Hi, maybe someone had a similar problem, namely that in my Audi the yellow indicator light on the low engine oil level turns on from time to time, but in fact the oil level on the dipstick is correct. It is enough to unscrew the cap from the coolant tank for a moment and the light disappears, after about 50 km the light comes on again, I unscrew the coolant cap and the light disappears and the situation repeats itself all the time. Buddy, the fluid reservoir has nothing to do with it. When the oil level is low, you have to open the hood and add oil. This is a message for the driver that something is wrong and it is OPENING THE MASK (a limit switch in the lock) that deletes this message. When it lights up again, raise it and close the hood - that's enough. In my opinion, you are looking poorly at the bayonet or you have a bayonet from another car.
Possibly check the sensor under the oil pan if there is any short circuit there.

The level indicator disappears because you open the hood, and it lights up again because the level alert physically sees the low level. That's my diagnosis.

Read errors from the meter, see what oil level the meter sees in the measuring blocks.
    Probably blocks 5, 6, 7, 50.
The sensor in the bowl may be damaged, there is no power supply to it, an open circuit between the sensor and the meter.

The oil condition is definitely appropriate and I have had the dipstick in this car for 10 years and so far there has been no problem, but I will try to open the hood as soon as the low level lights up.

In fact, it is enough to open and close the hood and the min level indicator light disappears, unfortunately after driving about 40 km, it reappears again and again for over a year. Could this be the fault of the oil level sensor or the oil pressure sensor?

buddy, change the sensor in the oil pan and you'll have peace of mind. Of course, check the cube first for greens. (Grala1's friend wrote it before)

And what do you think, if the oil did leak, the indicator light would turn red or it would still show yellow.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a persistent yellow oil level indicator issue in a 2000 Audi A3 1.8 AGN, despite the oil level being correct as per the dipstick. Users suggest that the indicator may be linked to a faulty oil level sensor or a short circuit in the sensor wiring. Opening the hood temporarily resolves the indicator light, indicating a possible issue with the limit switch in the hood lock or the sensor itself. Recommendations include checking the sensor under the oil pan, reading error codes from the vehicle's meter, and potentially replacing the oil level sensor for a permanent fix.
