    Hello
I recently bought an OVERMAX CAMSPOT 4.1 IP camera to test the possibility of viewing what is happening on my property when I am at work. In fact, it meets my expectations with one exception - the preview is live, without the ability to save when the computer / tablet is turned off. Ultimately, I intend to buy a recorder along with several additional AHD cameras, and for now I have started the computer only to record the image from the camera.
I saw other WiFi cameras with the option of saving to SD cards. This (according to the manufacturer) does not support this, but ...
I stripped the cam and found something like this:
Overmax Camspot 4.1 IP Camera: Enabling SD Card Recording Option and Identifying Connection Issues
Unfortunately, after inserting the card, nothing happens - the camera program does not show the card. On the opposite side of the board is a 16-pin tape connecting this module with the camera system. However, the socket visible in the picture is not connected to anything.
If anyone met with such a module and knows how to run it, please ask for info. Maybe you just need to power up and you can start recording on SD.

The socket itself is not everything - if you write new camera software, it may work.

If you are going to add it to this system - forget it.
Helpful post? Buy me a coffee.

I rummaged a little on the Chinese portal and found a similar (identical) wonder with the ability to record to SD.
The same camera with a different name

There is also a movie at the auction showing how to install an SD card. This is what my Overmax looks like inside. Interestingly, the film does not show any additional cables in addition to the previously mentioned elastic band. The skin is supposed to work there, then ...... I will try with a different card, because I put 2GB into the test. I just didn't have another one.

Somehow I don't believe that the Overmax set from the Chinese would like to add a separate soft, cutting out the possibility of recording, while leaving a physically useless microSD slot. Somehow it is economically unjustified for me.

As for the recorder, I was thinking about a hybrid with IP camera support -> the camera connects to the AP, and the recorder only saves the image. In the field of cameras and monitoring I am a layman, but I think it should work.

Hi, I also have Overmax CamSpot 4.1 Wifi Outdoor Camera. I unscrewed it, inserted an 8GB SD card from the phone. Discovered by webgui, I recorded a short video. I took out the card, downloaded the video - it works. I did not test the download without removing the SD card - as it was from the phone :) . I need to get a blank card and see what it looks like then. How did your case end?

I have not tested. I bought a recorder from Chinese and assembled all monitoring on HDD. However, it was possible to connect such a camera to a stationary device :) and from your post that the card subscription also works. A good discovery for more buyers.

Unfortunately, when the card fills up with me becomes invisible ... now only only its mechanical removal.
Someone has a way, the card format doesn't work because he can't see it :( I think that when it is full it disconnected, and interesting it can go to some looping.

Another thing is, I have a router with usb, to which I have a HDD connected, can this camera be set up so that the photos from the alarms are my pseudo FTP uploaded? It seems that the configuration is ok, but nothing happens.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the Overmax Camspot 4.1 IP camera, focusing on its inability to record directly to an SD card despite having a slot for it. Users share their experiences with the camera, noting that while some have successfully recorded videos using different SD cards, others face issues with the card becoming invisible when full. There are suggestions about the potential for modifying the camera's software to enable SD card recording, but concerns about the economic feasibility of such modifications are raised. Additionally, users discuss the possibility of connecting the camera to a hybrid recorder that supports IP cameras for better monitoring solutions.
