    Hi,
I am looking for a solution for my network that meets two requirements:
This device must have a SIM card slot, so that it can connect to LTE and has min. 5 LAN ports.
I want the price to be as low as possible, but with limited sense, so as not to buy some junk.

I found a pair of LTE + 4 x LAN routers, but it's not enough, so I think the only solution is to buy a switch with a built-in USB port, so that you can connect a company LTE modem to it (I think that such a solution is even cheaper).

Could someone please me with their opinion and advice?

    Greetings.

The switch will not support the LTE modem. But it is used to increase the number of LAN ports by connecting a LAN-LAN cable to the router. What is the operator, what modem? Today, fixed-line routers with a built-in LTE-A modem are used in subscription contracts. If you have an LTE modem, it is necessary to purchase a USB router that supports this modem and a switch to it in order to extend the LAN ports. What are the ports, what is the budget?

The operator is a play network.
I do not have a modem for this device.

Budget PLN 200 (of course I will find used devices ...), maybe more, I care about very high stability.

So as I understand it, it buys an LTE router with, for example, one LAN port (8p8c) and plugs the switch into it, then hosts and everything is supposed to work in theory without any configuration? Do I have to somehow bridge the switch and router?

If you don't have a modem, how do you use the Play internet? Is it a subscription or a pre-paid offer, have you tested Play at your home? For PLN 200 it is difficult to buy a router with LTE and a switch for it, even a used one. A switch with 5 LAN ports of 100Mb / s costs about PLN 30, LTE router about PLN 250.

I used this internet at home, I have some converted Thai modem with forced work on LTE, bought at the bazaar from a Chinese. It is a pre-paid offer and generally on this wonderful modem I have the network works properly (surprisingly ...).

I found a simple TP-Link TL-SF1005D switch for PLN 25, as I can see the simplest possible model that is
and the LTE Dlink DWR 923 router for PLN 120
or 4G LTE Edimax WiFi Router + Modem ZTE MF821 for PLN 170

    What do you think?

And what do you consider the correct operation of LTE in Play and what is this modem and how converted? What are your LTE speeds, what LTE band do you use in Play? Do you manage it via a linking application or a browser page? You want to be stable and you choose crap. The guy who sells this DWR-923 doesn't list the LTE bands it serves. This router does not work on the LTE1800 and LTE2100 bands. It works with LTE800 and LTE2600. Play uses all these bands, hence my question, which band are you using, do you have coverage. And this Edimax + MF821 set is a museum worth PLN 70, although I would not want it for free. Unstable router, had big problems with LTE modem support. Plus / CP, where this set comes from, struggled with it for a long time. Since in Play you can have unlimited LTE internet on a card for PLN 5 / month, so I suggest spending the saved money on decent equipment. Where do you use LTE in Play?

My current modem is a strange device, I do not even know what company it is, because I have never paid attention to it, although it has been with me for over a year. I manage it through the website, but never mind, because I want to replace it, it's so clutter that the very fact that it turns on at all is surprising to me. It's a pity to shred the keyboard for this something.

    I use in two places:
    Gliwice, ul. Styczyński
and ultimately is to operate in 85% of cases the network in Gliwice at ul. Towarowa - and this location is a priority.
(I tried to look at what BTSs are on the goods, but the map is not loading)

So I understand that we determine what band I operate on and what stability / speed I can achieve, right?

In Gliwice at Towarowa 23, Play has BTS LTE1800 and LTE2100, it is possible that it works on LTE800. LTE1800 provides DL of up to 75Mbps with 10MHz bandwidth in MIMO. On LTE2100 and LTE800, it is half as much. There are 3 BTSs in the area of Styczyński, with the above-mentioned bands, and at Kościuszko 29 and Sobieskiego 14 there are also LTE2600 permits, which are assumed to be the fastest, here it has 20MHz in MIMO and DL up to 150Mbps. You need to do tests in these locations. The minimum equipment is a modem / router with support for these LTE bands. the mentioned budget does not allow the purchase of a router with aggregation of LTE-A bands.

oOk, however, I have to humble myself because I gave you unknowingly incorrect information. The LTE I have is for a subscription, not a card as I wrote. In addition, it also turned out that I also have LTE with PLUS for a subscription.

So as I understand correctly, the options for play are to buy a modem with support for the LTE 1800 band, so that it reaches the MAX of its capacity, right? So I can't buy a good modem and connect it to the "average" router?

What tests are we talking about? What upload on these bands?

So two huge mistakes, the first is LTE in Play for a subscription without hardware and Plus also without hardware? These operators offer LTE equipment as a subscription and that's what it takes. What are your LTE speeds in Play and Plus? A good modem is the E3372 HiLink, but an average router is not such a simple matter, budget routers on an official FW compatible with it are a weak and small choice. Tests on these Play cards, a plus using an LTE phone with the Network Cell Info application, show BTS data, signal parameters. Plus speedtets. UL in Play on LTE2600 up to 50Mb / s on LTE1800 up to 25Mb / s on LTE2100 and LTE800 up to 12Mb / s.

I do not own the subscription and I do not know if the subscriber also ordered the equipment. I'll find out tomorrow and let you know.
The speed I achieved was about 20 mb / s DL and 10 mb / s UL and 50 ms pings to wp, onet, etc. (on Styczyńskiego street, on Towarowa street, I haven't worked yet. It concerns the PLAY network, I haven't used the plus yet)

In that case, as soon as possible, I will perform the tests with the application you proposed and I will post the results here as soon as possible.

Thanks for professional advice, I would bet 4 pack if there was an opportunity :D

I did not take the measurements, because I will be there next week, when the router that the subscriber ordered, which is the huawei b310 device, comes from PLAY. How about this device? Won't you say anything specific without taking measurements?
This equipment has a WAN port, connect to this switch port, or is it just a cable Internet input?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around finding an affordable LTE router with a minimum of 5 LAN ports and a SIM card slot. The user initially considers using a switch with a USB port to connect an LTE modem but is advised that this setup may not support the modem effectively. Various options are explored, including the TP-Link TL-SF1005D switch and LTE routers like the D-Link DWR-923 and Edimax WiFi Router with ZTE MF821 modem. Concerns are raised about the compatibility of these devices with the Play network's LTE bands, emphasizing the need for a stable connection and proper equipment. The user is encouraged to test LTE speeds and coverage in their area before making a purchase decision.
