    Hello,

I've noticed a strange knock from the front shock absorbers for some time.
Knocking occurs on bumps (but not always)
Yesterday I took a look (I note that I do not know anything about cars and mechanics) and I noticed something strange about the shock absorber springs - I attach photos.

    The photos show both sides.

Please let me know what it could be?
    What repair?
    Potential cost?
Is it possible to repair it yourself?

    Thanks in advance.

If something knocks while driving, it is difficult to detect when stationary. You should take the car to a mechanic where the diagnosis of the chassis is carried out (the so-called "jerks") and then something like that can come out.
Once a friend had a problem with the Pug 1007 (such a little thing with sliding doors), the problem was the rubber at the top of the springs. Not to be seen when stationary, only felt when the front wheel was lightened.
And in the attached photos I don't see anything disturbing. The lower part of the spring sits in a special bed, because this part gets offended when turning the steering wheel.

    Hello,
You can check the clearance on the upper shock absorber cushions in such a way that:
You raise one or the other wheel separately or both together, take the wheel from the bottom and pull it upwards, if there is enough slack, you have cushions to replace, you can also tear the spring to see if there is no slack, which also means the upper one shock absorber mount.
With the front wheels raised, the wrong tire from the front, halfway and quite hard, but gently move the wheel, this way you will check if there is any slack in the suspension.
With these upper shock absorber mounts, you will not always find slack on the jacks, because diagnosticians simply do not want to lift the car up to find this slack, I found out not once that on the jacks, but after lifting the car and checking everything manually, the suspension looks like completely different.
One thing I can't sense in my hands and I will catch the jerks I have already met several times, there is the front bushing of the front suspension and of course the rear beam is hard to catch with your hands.

If you press (rock) one and then the other side of the car in front and you hear a knock, one of the stabilizer rubbers, and if the knock will also occur when rocking the entire front, either the rubbers holding the stabilizer or the shock absorber but you will hear from which side

I knocked on my citroen c3 only on bumps. It turned out that the rocker arm sleeves were broken and 1 rocker arm had a large play. This is easy to check, you just need to have access to a channel or a lift. With a mechanic I know, I exchanged 4 bushings (2 for the rocker arm) and 1 pin. With parts and work it came out about PLN 150. At first I thought they were amory too :)
