After replacing the fuel filter with a new one, follow this procedure the filter is empty and must be filled with fuel. Therefore, we turn the ignition until the controls appear and we hear the pump. Repeat this procedure at least three times

Compare a new filter with the old one or somehow different, for example: size. Insert the new one in the same way as you put on the old one and check the tightness of the filter housing

Bigger, even by a few millimeters, it may cause that you do not tighten the filter housing

Do not write nonsense, there is no back-up pump. Badly vented system. Replace the filter housing, replace the gaskets (small and large) and it must be fine.

Buddy did not write anything about the pumping pump. He wrote that the new fuel filter is a few millimeters bigger and I'm just saying that if he put a larger filter into the housing it can cause that he will not be able to turn the fuel housing and this will result in leakage and aeration the

Here is what you hit Astra H 17.cdti - the problem with changing the fuel filter

I did not write anything about the pump but about the fuel filter where you read something about the pump

    Added after 5 [minutes]:

I probably meant a high pressure pump

I confirm how my colleague @autoas that with filters filtrona fuel for the 1.7 engine in the oplu is some massacre - it's not about the filters only with gaskets which are included with them. I had cases that the filter housing was sealed on the seals (these filterron seals last hard mercilessly ) after replacing the gaskets from other even cheap Chinese people it was OK !!!!! Earlier there were no problems with the filterer and now I do not know what to think.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an issue with an Astra H 17.cdti 100km where the engine fails to start after a fuel filter replacement. The original poster describes the problem of the engine not starting, leading to battery drain. Responses suggest that the new fuel filter may not be properly installed or compatible, with recommendations to fill the filter with fuel before starting, check O-rings, and ensure the new filter matches the old one in size. Some users mention issues with specific brands of filters, particularly Filtron, indicating that the seals may not be effective, leading to leaks and air in the system. The consensus is that proper installation and compatibility of the fuel filter are crucial for the engine to start correctly.
