    Hello,

My girlfriend's phone (Samsung S6) started going weird.
About a week ago, she accidentally put her phone (probably, because I don't know if the water got in via Jack or the charging port) next to spilled water on the table.
When she dripped, she cleaned the phone dry, but unfortunately did not turn it off, but used (ehh ..).

It was so that at the beginning there was no key backlight (such bright white light) and the button responsible for the application cards on the phone did not work at all or sometimes the button responsible for the application cards on the phone (the leftmost button from the home button and the fingerprint reader)

I thought that maybe the compressed air would do something and possibly blow out the remnants of water if there were still any (about a week has passed since then). However, now the phone has such a strange phase that the button for application tabs is still active.

And the question is what to do :) Is there a chance to turn off the buttons embedded in the phone and make some virtual ones appear?

    Help good people :)

And what does it matter in the event of flooding? If there is a suspicion of flooding, you need to disassemble the phone, whatever it is.
In this case, the board with the system connector is to be replaced.

Let's assume that the system with the connector fell as you say. Is it possible to completely disable the system buttons and possibly "add" them to the bottom of the display?

As for adding virtual buttons, this is not a problem, the home button is on a separate tape so unfastening it should not be difficult, the problem remains with the other two.

But how can you add virtual buttons? Need to root the phone, is there an option in the phone settings?

And the same in the other way if you can lock the buttons from the settings position.

    Give back for warranty.

You have applications in the play store, Act, but it works, but no great because it enters the displayed image. Anyway, I'd take care of it properly if you were.
You will not lock the buttons from the settings level.
I am aware that replacing this element in the s6 is not the most pleasant, but it is not impossible. The worst thing is the risk of damaging the display, unless it is possible to somehow clean the old tape without removing the "ears" from the buttons under the glass.

Ok, we will try to return it to Samsung, maybe they will accept it (lottery).

Wait wait. I misled you, I was convinced the s6 was waterproof. However, if the phone was flooded, they will probably refuse to repair it. If you want, you can always try it, but it won't work.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Samsung S6 experiencing potential water damage after being exposed to spilled water. The user reports issues with the key backlight and the application tabs button, which either do not work or are intermittently responsive. Suggestions include disassembling the phone to check for water damage, replacing the system board, and the possibility of adding virtual buttons through rooting or settings adjustments. There is also a mention of returning the device for warranty service, although concerns are raised about the likelihood of repair due to water exposure. The conversation highlights the challenges of repairing the S6, particularly the risk of damaging the display during the process.
