    Hi,
Today there was a problem with my Seat Leon 1P 1.6 BSE 2007 - a few hours after the last drive I found a car with a completely discharged battery - the central locking did not work, after turning the key in the ignition switch zero response.
After charging the battery, I noticed that the engine (pictures below) is starting / trying to start every now and then. This happens when the engine and ignition are off. What device is this? Has anyone encountered such a problem?

Thanks in advance for your help. Greetings. ;)

Secondary air pump. It blows into the exhalation so that the catalyst heats up faster. It is to turn on only on a cold, running engine.
Most likely, only the relay in the box under the hood will be damaged.

Thank you very much. I disconnected the battery overnight so that it would not run out and after 12 hours when I connected it again, the problem disappeared. Is it possible for the relay to "hang" and return to normal operation after such a stop?

Recently, I was firing a discharged leon with the same engine and also the same problem, the air pump turned on without the ignition switch, only after a few hours the pump did not start. Maybe some babol in the driver?

No, if it stuck it would stick all the time.
If this pump tried to turn on without the ignition on, the problem is rather in the box where the fuse is or with the cable that controls this relay from the engine controller, it touches the ground somewhere. Unless something is wrong with the engine driver.

Rather, I would expect a broken anchor or spring itself.

At most, plus, because on the other hand you won't get it without turning on the ignition.

In this case, after fastening the clamp clearly clicks the relay, but something causes its activation.

Thanks for the help. In fact, the problem was a broken relay - after replacing it with a new one, it does not occur.
    Greetings.

    Hi.
Hey can you please take the picture of the relay? Where is it in Leon? In my seat, it is apparently built into a fan :(
I had the same problem in November 2017. The mechanic replaced the coolant temperature sensor. The problem stopped. Today I got a check engine - I checked a simple program error P0491, after leaving the garage, - secondary air pump. After checking the fuses, the pillow lamp also lights up, it is not known why. I do not have a cable for the VAG interface so I will not delete the pillow error myself.
My car is Seat Altea 1.6 petrol from 2008.
I wonder where this driver is at your place.
I will also replace the fuse from this pump and see what happens.
A visit to the workshop is inevitable but maybe I will learn something from you.
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,
Now I can't take a picture of the box and the relay itself. I will try to send tomorrow. In Leon, the box with this relay is under the hood, and from what I managed to read in Altea is exactly the same. In the first photo I marked in green the place where the fuse box - relays is. In the second photo you have a diagram where the relay from the secondary air pump in Altea should be located.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a battery discharge issue in a 2007 Seat Leon 1P 1.6 BSE. The user reported that the car's battery was completely drained after a few hours of inactivity, with no response from the ignition switch. After recharging the battery, the engine attempted to start intermittently even when the ignition was off. Responses identified the secondary air pump as the likely culprit, which is designed to operate only when the engine is cold. A faulty relay was suggested as a potential cause for the pump's unintended activation. After disconnecting the battery overnight, the problem temporarily resolved, but it was confirmed that a broken relay was the root cause. The user successfully replaced the relay, eliminating the issue.
