    Hello. I have a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53 Ghz processor. I would like to replace the Prock in it, but I do not know what maximum I can afford when looking at the capabilities of the equipment. I found information that I can put i3 or i5 in, but after a more detailed analysis of the processor specifications, it turns out that they have a different type of socket.     T9600, I have one in the same dell.

    Remember that this computer has poor cooling, clean it well and give it a decent paste or it will fry.

    No i3, i5 will come up

    Thanks :) But I have one more question then. The T9600 has a Montevin core and my P8700 has a Penryn. There is no difference how I change to a processor with this core?

    You know what, just check if both processors have the same socket. My dell did not show such a processor after serial numbers, someone just replaced it with plug and play.

    There is probably one more powerful model but I couldn't find it anywhere, this T9600 is enough.
    You can't make a speed demon out of this laptop, but it's OK for a simple job
