    Hi,

I bought a 128GB SSD today and a special pocket for this disk, which is inserted instead of the CD / DVD media. I want to have SSD for windows programs etc. and HDD for movies, photos etc. I have a few questions about the correct installation.
    1. Will it be possible to transfer the entire C drive (windows, programs etc.) to the SSD drive, so that you do not have to do the format and possible new uploading of the system (I'm afraid of losing wine 10)
    2. Do you have to bury in Bios in this variant
    3. Will it be able to completely clean the HDD after migration.
    4. Is the program / game running fast, it is enough that windows is installed on the ssd disk and is somewhat responsible for booting, whether the game / program must also be installed there.

    1. Sure you can (there are appropriate cloning programs) but the fear of losing Windows 10 is rather unfounded if everything is legal.
    2. Changing the boot order may be required.
    3. Yes you can.
    4. Games may be on HDD, loading times may not be as short as on SSD, but they should be a little better than before, because the system will not have to use HDD at the same time.

In my opinion, probably it would be better if you mounted SSD in place of HDD, and put the HDD in the pocket in place of ODD.

I thought so, but what should I do in this case?

What he wrote to you @sylweksylwina . You mount the disk drive in the pocket instead of the drive, and the ssd drive in place of the disk drive.

    > I'm afraid of losing my wine 10

    How do you fight?

    @Kolobos

Before mounting the SSD in place discs I have to install some disk drive there somehow elevator Windows, but it is already on HDD.
Two, I'm afraid that I will lose windows 10 because in July of that year I received the update from 8.1 and from what I know this license has probably expired.

So for clarity after upgrading Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, you can do a clean installation of Windows 10 (on a new SSD without problems), Windows 10 activates itself, here you have the tool for downloading Windows 10 CLICK .

So to install windows 10 you only need the installation file without any key?

ISO image is downloaded with what I gave in the link, you do not need any key (in the installer you skip entering the key), activation will be automatic when Windows has access to the net, clean installation is done on SSD, HDD unplug, after installing Windows 10 you put it in the bay, of course, the battery is disconnected during the installation of the disks.

    So to sum up!
    1. Download to ISO stick and keep it there.
    2. Removes the battery, I put the HDD and put a new SSD in place of the HDD.
    3. Connect USB stick with ISO to usb 3.0 and click the power button on the paw.
    4. I am installing windows 10.
    5. After all I put the HDD in the place of the CD / DVD disc and format it myself to clean.
    6. Windows will authenticate itself when connected to the net.

Don't download ISO, just make a bootable USB stick straight away.

The wizard asks after downloading the ISO file whether to create a bootable media, the most convenient to use, then it's quick installation on SSD.

You can make a copy of the system using clonezilla and transfer to a properly prepared ssd drive.

So you can explain to me what to do. I have a clean 16GB flash drive and SSD and I want to burn windows 10.

You download the media creation tool from Microsoft, run it, then there is something like create a medium for another computer, select the letter pendrive, the system downloads, and when finished you have created a bootable pendrive.
With the pendrive inserted, you restart the laptop, use f12 to call up as soon as the boot menu boot screen appears and select the pendrive, as this will not work instead of f12, press f2 and in the configuration you temporarily change the boot order. If the installer starts, you create partitions on the SSD or on the whole disk you install OS and already. It would be good if you did not insert the HDD before installing, because probably Windows will create an entry in the bootloader for the other system.

If the system is already installed on the SSD then I can easily connect the HDD and format it completely?

As you write, then you can do whatever you want with the HDD.

And what happens when the SSD with windows is attached in the place of the old HDD, and the old HDD in the place of the disc carrier. Is then the situation in which two systems are installed, does not create any problems?

No, in the bios you choose which disk to boot the system.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around installing a 128GB SSD in a Dell Inspiron 15 3537 laptop, replacing the CD/DVD drive. Key concerns include transferring the existing Windows 10 installation from the HDD to the SSD without data loss, the necessity of BIOS adjustments, and the potential for cleaning the HDD post-migration. Users suggest using cloning software for the transfer and confirm that Windows 10 can be reinstalled on the SSD without needing a product key, as it will activate automatically once connected to the internet. The installation process involves creating a bootable USB drive with the Windows 10 ISO, removing the HDD during installation, and formatting the HDD afterward. The performance of programs and games is discussed, noting that while SSDs improve load times, games can still be installed on the HDD.
