    Hello.
I am trying to purchase an inverter welder for DIY.
I have no experience in welding.
    I'm thinking about STANLEY STAR 7000 200A
    welding current: 200 A weight: 7.1 kg
Smooth welding current adjustment, Hot start, Anti stick, built-in fan.
Set with a suitcase, wires and an auto-darking visor for 549 PLN.
What could this be for the "invention"? STANLEY (I think) is not a producer of welding machines.
Thank you in advance for your tips and hints.

Check what is the working-to-rest ratio given as a percentage, if it is above 75% at a current of about 160A, this is worth / 80% means 8min. work -2min. interruptions / and what kind of protections needed at 160A current - it will be "pulled" by it.

Personally, I'd rather buy some "Magnum Snake" at least know what's inside.

You can always look inside, evaluate and give away.

Provided that you buy on a receipt and on a distance.

    Added after 4 [minutes]:

As a colleague qadam12 says, check first of all what is the consumption of power from the network (required protection).

    Thank you for the advice.
With "look inside, assess and give back" is not a good idea in my case.
It can be sealed, which I can look at since I do not know it. Rather, it will be a clone.
I do not know if there is an option to return from the promotion in obi.
There is not much information about this welding machine on the net.
Apparently Made in Italy (who believes let it believe).
I did not even find a clear nameplate, I saw 200% on one of the pages.
I do not have much pressure to buy, I was hoping that someone from the Collegues knows this "invention".
    greetings

Here is the catalog with welders link . It contains some data, in addition to power consumption from the network (only max. 7.0kVA). I found somewhere that the required security is 20A.

    Welding current: 10 - 200 A

    Work cycle: according to EN60974-1 (40 ° C) 6% - 200 A, at 20 ° C (normal use) - 40% - 200 A

Diameters of the electrode / wire: 1.6 to 5 mm

    Power consumption: 7.0 kVA

    Rated voltage: 230 V - 50 Hz

    Cooling system: fan

    Weight: 6.9 kg
For 400 you can buy a much better one - so I do not recommend it

thanks for the link :D It is very likely that the security is 20A. I wonder if C-25 or BI25  . It is a pity that we do not have the answer of someone who knows, uses this welder.

    qadam12
W / g data (it is written) 160A 75% supposed to be ok
Included is a suitcase and an auto-darkening visor worth about 100 PLN?
Please, write to me what specific model of welding machine you currently recommend for 400 PLN.

    jerry1960
I looked so fast, the online prices of Magnum Snake 200P 200A start at over PLN 700 + visor about PLN 100.
    You recommend?
It's almost 2x exceeds the budget.
I asked the main question under the influence of emotions (quasi-promotion?).
Every piece of information is valuable to me, although I do not have to buy urgently.

    greetings

Buddy, you killed my nail ...
Write what checked model / type you had in mind.
One of the auction sites is (from the elektro-mar2 seller)

These working cycles are just a wishful thinking, take 1/3 of what the producer says. The cheapest one for PLN 400 is fine, you do not need to sleep once on a better one.

A colleague has 100% reasons for these working cycles served from Far Eastern imports, this is what everyone would like to have but it does not have reality - but you read it well :)

    Thank you for your help.
Thanks to you, I give up the purchase of the STANLEY welding machine given in the subject.
It is known that products from the Far East have different housings, names and written parameters. Fantasy production :D
It can be assumed that in most of these cheap welders, the content is very similar in appearance. There may already be differences with the quality of the quasi-same electronics. The prices depend also on the lettering on the housing and on the Seller's margin.
I would expect a cheap welder to have a decent (for price) durability and performance. Written 250A, that is, up to approximately 130A, a working cycle, e.g. 75%.
That's why I created this topic.
One of the Colleagues suggests Kraft & Dele KD837 IGBT-250 250A with display for PLN 400. Thank you for the advice :D I would buy it willingly but in the supermarket because I have "exceptional luck" to buy faulty devices. Markets order larger quantities and it can be expected that the parameters can be close to half of those written ;)
In the supermarket, there is always a greater chance of getting the cash back for an exceptional sell and a bit better with a guarantee ..
I am afraid to buy at the auction from the Seller without a registered office or from a distance of over 500 km
    I leave the topic open.
Because the purchase is not very urgent for me.

Below, as a curiosity, I will give 2 examples of similar welders of similar brands Kraft & Dele _v.s._ KRAFTWELE :D from the auction site ...
And these "reliable" descriptions. Power in (A). Input current in (W).

very good welder. Italian product. Most welders have a description of 300 amps and a wire of 1.6 to 4.0 mm. star 7000 .200 amps and wire from 1.6 to 5.0 mm. I've been using it for a long time and it's great, and I have to add that I'm an amateur. The yellow 4.0 mm are best. practically everything, delicate profiles and thick steel. I used many others out of curiosity. all these magnums, or ideals is just a mess which after a few minutes turn off or do not want to spark. I also add that apart from having a Stanley welder, nothing else connects me with this company. My opinion is purely private

I enjoyed this welder for 2.5 years with occasional use. When welding with a thin electrode and a small welding current, something shot, smoked, the fuse popped up and the welding machine. The warranty has expired, I am looking for a service in the vicinity of Włocławek to see if it is worth repairing and possibly removing the failure.

I got this Stanleja in the OBI promotion I got hit and I have to say that she was bravely dealing with the 3.25 electrode so much that she worked on a 25m extension cord 3x1.5 mm2, during welding the fan slowed down a bit. Very good ignition of the arc and I have no comments its exploitation and there is nothing to fault about it I have been welding for 30 years. If someone already has the intention to buy a welding machine from this manufacturer, I recommend the model 7000

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the STANLEY STAR 7000 200A inverter welder, particularly for DIY projects by users with little to no welding experience. Concerns were raised about the welder's specifications, including its working-to-rest ratio, power consumption, and overall reliability. Some participants suggested alternative models like the Magnum Snake and Eurotek EW248, emphasizing the importance of checking the quality and performance of budget welders. Users shared personal experiences, with mixed reviews on the STANLEY model, noting its decent performance but also potential issues with durability and service. Ultimately, the consensus leaned towards caution in purchasing the STANLEY welder due to its uncertain quality and the prevalence of clones in the market.
