    Hello,
I have very poor wifi coverage in my laptop room, I'm going to buy some equipment to create 2 wifi in the next room. Then this equipment would be separated from the laptop by 2 thin walls. I don't want to spend too much on it, I'm a bit green when it comes to internet networks. I would connect the Ethernet cable from 1 router to this new equipment. Would such a router be enough for this? TP-LINK TL-WR841N router. The router from which the cable would go is Livebox, 20 Mb / s internet.

Because there is already this wire in that room and I can't put it into mine right now, that's why I want to do it.

And these rooms are separated by an armored wall? I also have wifi and no problem room - room. I have one router and I have no problem connecting to the router in the whole single-family house. Why do you want to increase your reach?

The livebox is 2 floors lower than my room and I cannot move it, I have 1-2 lines of range, I want to make 2 wifi on my floor using a 2nd router. For example, wifi does not catch me on my phone. Sometimes it works fine and goes to do everything, but sometimes it starts to silt up so that starting the movie on yt is a problem.

Give a twisted pair and drill holes into those thin walls.

Yes, write. do you have the option of providing the twisted pair with livebox?

But I don't want to drill more holes just, if I wanted to solve it like this, I wouldn't assume the topic, I just wanted to find out if some basic router would be better than it is now. And I don't know much about it and I just don't want to buy anything that won't help.

I understand that someone is sharing the link. Run a twisted pair cable from there to your own router and you'll have coverage in your apartment.

Yes, TP-LINK TL-WR841N will be ok (any simple router will work) in livebox you must have one free LAN port (yellow) you connect the twisted pair there and in TP-LINK TL-WR841N you connect this twisted pair to the WAN port (blue). Just make sure that the wifi on both routers does not work on the same channel.
If you have the opportunity to move the livebox to the 2nd floor for a while, connect it there and check what range you have where you expect improvement (although the range may slightly differ with tplink)

And not better for LAN? There will be one common network.

Repeater is also a solution, but then there is less bandwidth and stability. If the cable goes somewhere there, it is better to stick to it.

Buy a PLC and after the problem.

    I support.
The best solution after the LAN cable.
On a 20 Mb net, there does not have to be something sophisticated - a set for PLN 150 (new) or a used one will do the trick.

I do not know how it will be on a 20mb / s net, but at speeds of 10mb / s and below, I installed the TP-Link TL-WA850RE somewhere in the middle of the house, where there was still a reasonable range and that did the trick. You may be interested in such a solution.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around improving Wi-Fi coverage in a user's laptop room using a TP-LINK TL-WR841N router connected to a Livebox providing 20 Mbps internet. The user faces connectivity issues due to the distance and walls separating the devices. Suggestions include using the TP-LINK TL-WR841N as a secondary router, ensuring proper configuration to avoid channel conflicts, and considering alternatives like Wi-Fi repeaters or powerline adapters (PLC) for better coverage. The consensus is that a wired connection is preferable for stability and bandwidth, and basic routers should suffice for the user's needs.
