    Hello.
I have a used HP Compaq Elite 8300 Convertible Microtower for a buck.
    Link
I am thinking of tweaking this equipment with better graphics and adding RAM.
An example of a card that I could insert is a GeForce GTX 770.

Will the card be compatible with the motherboard?
Will the power supply need to be replaced? If so, can it be done in this housing?
Do you think such a game makes sense at all? Of course, it's about converting an office computer into one for mid-range games.

    greetings

I have such a computer and when I bought it, an experienced seller informed me that you can only insert GT740, I have GT730, it is not very suitable for games.

    Thanks for the answer.
I don't know exactly how to understand it.
Is it because inserting a better card is impossible (it will not work) or not profitable (because the possibilities of this card will not be used?

The point is that the power supply has a low power, in addition, in order to fit the graphics card, it must be low-profile. You probably know it, but I will write just in case, the power supply cannot be replaced with something more sensible, there are unusual sockets in the motherboard (you can play with modifications).

    I understand.
I did not know about this power supply - by unusual sockets do you understand the unusual mounting of the power supply in the housing, or power / current sockets?

Different sockets come out of the motherboard than on "normal" motherboards.

This power supply has too little power to power such a card, and there are no proper connectors.

The standard ATX power supply does not fit into this case, nor does it have the appropriate connectors for connecting the motherboard.

The topic ended with the insertion of NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2GB graphics.
In fact, changing the power supply would be problematic - the hp housing makes it difficult - although it is possible.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around upgrading an HP Compaq Elite 8300 Convertible Microtower with a GeForce GTX 770 graphics card. Users express concerns about compatibility, specifically regarding the motherboard and power supply unit (PSU). It is noted that the existing PSU has insufficient power and uses non-standard connectors, making it challenging to replace with a standard ATX PSU. Additionally, the case design limits the installation of larger graphics cards, leading to the conclusion that a more suitable option would be the NVIDIA GeForce GT 730, which is compatible with the system's constraints.
