    Hello all.

This is my first post on the forum and I hope it's not the last. Please forgive me for the faux pas resulting from inexperience :-)

And now, to the point ...

I want to connect a hydrophore pump to myself in the newly drilled Abyssinian well. As for the connection, it is for me to embrace. I have a problem with the first start of the pump. It seemed to me earlier that the PE pipe in the well has a non-return valve at the end and it is enough to fill it in advance before connecting to the pump, but it turns out that there is no such valve and I just have to connect it at the very top of the pipe.
How is the pump supposed to raise water if it cannot run dry? The pump itself can be flooded, but this water will be pumped away fairly quickly and in the meantime the air that is in the PE pipe in the well will quickly reach the pump.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Self-priming hydrophore pumps are on sale, but I am skeptical about them, whether it is not just advertising. I used to mount it, but I flooded it traditionally. The installation in the well ended with a suction basket, with a check valve. It all depends on the distance of the pump from the water source, and mainly the difference in pump levels - water level. You could try to start the pump so that it draws water from the barrel, and when it pulls the water nicely, gradually turn off the water supply, forcing it to suck from the well.

And I didn't think about that.
So there is no problem if the pump draws, for example, half and half water from the barrel and air from the PE pipe?

In the long run, certainly not, but if it is going to last soon and you watch the pump work, then even if it did not draw water from the well, there should be no seizure.
