If he checks the pairs of wires, connect in a star. If there is a mistake beginning and ending, the engine will start, but it will hum. When the order is correct, it should run quietly. There were many ways how to check the winding order, start, end (if I remember correctly, it is DC voltage). Additionally, the wires should be properly marked or they should have a different color of wire insulation.
