    Hi,

this is my first post and I apologize in advance if this topic appears in the wrong section. I have a problem with headphones or with a laptop. I don't know that because:

I had earphones (let's call them A). The most ordinary ones that I got on the phone. After a while one stopped working.
So I dug some headphones from the closet (let's call B), the laptop didn't detect them at all. I could turn the jack on, pull out ... NOTHING.
As these unearthed headphones were just any company, I decided to buy headphones (maybe not from the top shelf) Panasonic RP-HT 161.
I connect to a laptop - the same, nothing. With the difference that turning the jack sometimes appears for a moment a window allowing you to select the sound source, but it takes less than a second. Sometimes when I press the plug properly, I can switch the sound on the headphones, but when I release it, everything returns to (un) normal.

I didn't give up - I dug out an external Digitus DA-70800 sound card from the closet. I connect to the paw, to the card I connect headphones to the headphones slot - silence. I connect to the front (2.1) - there is sound.

I will mention that it is a business laptop. My helpdesk elegantly blew my outlet with compressed air. They took some earphones - they work. Others - no.

    Questions here:
    - Why on those first earphones (A) in which only one earphone was working - can you hear sound normally?
    - Why can't I find the earbuds on my lap?
    - Why both B and Panasonic headphones work on all other equipment but not on the lap?

Ultimately, I can't even locate the problem because the headphones are ok because they work on EVERY OTHER EQUIPMENT. I even went to great lengths and when buying headphones, I took my paw to the store and tested several headphones. The laptop didn't find any.
On the other hand, there is no problem with the A headphones on the lap - except that one does not work but it's a matter of headphones, we know

A huge request for help. If you still need some information - I will help

The 3 and 4 pin jack socket is for the dog. Some headphones have an unusual pin pattern in the plug. You would need an adapter to make every earphone work.

Well, headphones A and B look identical when it comes to the tip. Panasonic slightly different, but apparently because this one pin is responsible for the microphone but I do not need it

In the laptop you have a separate microphone socket or you have 1 that supports 2 functions. It is possible that the laptop socket is damaged. Possibly something with headphones impedance.

One supporting two functions. Returning to the adapter. Do you mean it?

Exactly. Delete allegro link because they are prohibited in this forum. An adapter will do the trick.

Well, logical :) next time I will paste the photo itself.

I will try with the adapter and let me know

    Hello after the break
I bought an adapter, the one I wrote about earlier - with no result

Due to the fact that it is a business laptop, someone probably damaged the headphone jack.

I don't think so, because the others have the same laptops and everything goes fast.
I also discovered a strange relationship - namely headphones that are, for example, from the set with the phone work every time. Today I also tried on other such earbuds and they worked without a squeak
