Hello, I bought an electric scooter, and I bought two new 12v 9ah batteries because the old ones were out of order, unfortunately the scooter runs for a few minutes and after a few minutes the relay starts buzzing in the controller and the scooter does not go, and the controller is hot when I touch it, when it starts to ride again so as if something was heating up too much and it was disconnected. I will add that the batteries give voltage to the 12v driver, so they are probably connected in parallel, but you can see on the wires that someone was messing around there and I did not check what the motor or 12v is. is it possible that if the motor is 24v then that's why it happens. if someone can help me please give me some hints. thank you in advance.

I am sorry it took so long but I was at work. In the photo you can see some thermal switches, I think these two yellow ones were very hot like a terracotta relay and the scooter did not want to go, if someone has any idea what it causes, please write.

Hello - please charge these batteries well - because the description shows that they sit down.
These elements (yellow rectangles are polymer fuses).
Please post a photo of the engine.

Tomorrow I will post a photo of the engine, but I think I will make it in the evening and will charge the batteries and let me know if something helped.

Hello - this black wire that connects to the ceramic resistor, please solder it.
The engine nameplate is marked on the photo.

I soldered the black wire and corrected all February to eliminate some cold solder, but it did not help. On the plate, to read something, I would have to remove the engine and what I can read are some Chinese characters.

Today I checked this black wire again and it seemed suspicious to me, so I replaced it and loosened the drive belt a bit. My son drove until the batteries were discharged and it was ok, so I will test tomorrow how he charges the batteries, but maybe the user WOJTEK 9006 was right about it thanks in advance, I hope it will be fine and we will close the topic, I will write if it is ok after the tests.

I did not write for a long time, but there was no weather for the children to test the scooter, unfortunately, yesterday they rode with 15 minutes and the scooter started rattling again with the relay when it stopped, it started to ride again, which I can check.

Check at what voltage this rattling occurs. Perhaps this is a protection against deep discharge of the battery.

I will check it after returning from vacation.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an electric scooter experiencing controller overheating and relay buzzing after replacing old batteries with two new 12V 9Ah units. The user suspects issues with the motor voltage, potentially indicating a 24V motor, and reports that the controller becomes hot and the scooter stops functioning after a few minutes of use. Responses suggest checking battery charge levels, inspecting thermal switches, and ensuring proper connections, particularly a black wire linked to a ceramic resistor. After some troubleshooting, including soldering connections and adjusting the drive belt, the user noted temporary improvements but continued to experience issues with the relay buzzing. Further voltage checks and tests are planned to diagnose the problem.
