    Hi,
I am trying to replace the chain in the oil pump in the 1.4 TDI engine. I am an amateur, but I have already done many things with the car, although it is the most difficult topic I will meet. I googled the topic and one thing puzzles me. I have to remove the timing belt for this operation, or if it has a mileage of 20-25 thousand, can I reinstall it? I guess so. However, I am mainly wondering if I block the timing, I will have to unscrew the crankshaft gear. So, what is the best way to protect yourself so that this shaft does not shift? I found information somewhere on the forum that when the bowl is removed, it can be blocked with a wooden block? Or block somewhere on the flywheel side? Unless I can mark the shaft and if it changes, it can be properly adjusted? I would be grateful for help.
    best regards
    Luke

You can mount it again, just mark the direction in which it worked and assume the same.

The wheel has a wedge, so otherwise you won't put it on and there are marks and locks to set the timing. Do not unscrew the central shaft on the installed lock.

So if the camshaft is blocked and the shaft shifts? And I will have its position marked, it will be enough to live and return to the correct position and the marker and lock it and put the timing gear?

Yes . It's best to get a description of the belt replacement procedure, you will know how to set, how to block the tensioner, etc. etc.
