Arduino-based system: Button press triggers LED and mobile app action via WiFi router

I want to build a system that includes an Object with a switch and diode, a Router and a mobile application on a Smartphone.

This is to function as follows: when a button is pressed on the Item, a light comes on and a specific action appears on the mobile application. I am uploading a diagram below.

I'm wondering how to implement this in the simplest way? Is building this thing based on an Arduino a good idea? How to make the button force an action on the mobile app?

I don't have much knowledge in this area so for any tips I will be extremely grateful
