Hey. I have ps4 since January and I use it not only for games but also for browsing websites. To this day, everything worked well, you could watch the movie generally, the net fluttered. For three days something has stopped working. I used to do a connection test and the speeds were great, i.e. downloading at 20Mb / s now as 1.9Mb / s is good ... I do not know what the problem is. The internet is good and nothing is wrong with it. On the phone or laptop neta tests come out very well, but not on ps4 anymore. I will add that I checked consoles on another Internet in another city and it was good there. One more thing is interesting that eg a standard app on the console - Youtube works well for nothing you have to wait movies land so that you do not have to wait and everything in Full hd also do not know what problem .. I would ask for help ..

Connect with a cable to the router and repeat the tests.

I've connected and it's still the same ... I was also trying to allocate ports and set up DMZ and nothing has changed. I miss ideas.

I have reset the router to factory settings and continue the same.

Do you think that if I bought any other router, something would change? I have the impression that something went wrong after the last update of ps4. In the sense the update was, but after a day or two it was fine and then something broke down. I will add photos of the router in the attachment.

If other devices with the router work properly, I do not see the point of exchanging the router. Although older routers sometimes have a problem with WiFi in the modern "cluttered" band, this should not be a problem with the cable connection to the router.

The problem is still on the cable. Support ps says to contact the Internet provider but I do not know if it makes sense if everything else works properly in the sense of laptops phones etc. Maybe new drivers for modem download and update via router? Out of curiosity, I took a console and I took her out of the city and flew to another net, it turned out everything was working normally. I did a test right away and easily downloaded 50Mb download and 25 send. I do not know where to look for a problem. Maybe the ISP has blocked something. Perhaps Sony itself or something due to the fact that, for example, I watch a lot of pirated sites and movies, for example CDA ... I do not know, somehow some things come to mind ? in any case, I am concerned about this matter, because why do I need a console that does not use 100% of the link. He does not use up to 5% at the moment.

You write that older routers may have a problem with Wi-Fi only that for 7 months of this problem did not have a router and suddenly appeared.

I wonder what Sony has the mechanism for testing the transmission speed. And how does the process of browsing the pages from the console look like - does not mediate in that the Sony servers?

Provider is messing (who is it?).

On the console 100% of such a fast connection you do not need, but 20% would be useful ...

But WiFi we ruled out, and there the amount of interference changes over time.

If there is no problem on the other end devices, then the upgrade of the modem drivers will probably not do anything. If you have already done so, replace the router with a try or skip it (if possible).

I was also wondering if Sony did not block me - if it goes through their servers. When I find a moment, connect the console directly with a modem cable and then I will check if something changes. If these options do not give anything then I will have to call the Internet provider and then to Sony. The Internet itself I do not know yet what I have because I rent and the Internet is the owner. I never needed this information ? I will have to ask and just call. If I do any post I will let you know what and how ?

No, because it's OK from a different location.

By the modem itself I could not connect because I did not want to connect to the internet .. speed test showed as in the annex, which is poor. Generally, the Internet has dropped out yesterday. Today a technician will come and check it out because from what he said on the phone there is actually something wrong with the network. We'll see what he's going to figure out and if he can get back to the internet in the state he's been in for the last six months - on ps, of course, because I'm not interested in the rest ?

Is it with PC screen? If so, you do not have a problem with the console ...

I have a problem with the console because the net is weak on it. With the fact that now it turned out that the net completely fell everywhere and does not work anywhere so far ... he was a technician and buried in the router and then when he came out according to him was everything ok. I could not even check it because currently the Internet still does not work anywhere ... the technician was called back to the Internet. I made a screen from my laptop

And everything has cleared up. He was a technician and explained that they were changing in the multimedia frequency so the Internet was but poorly catching. Generally, the guest in the main box had to take off or put in filters which unlocked the full signal. So it's probably the vendor's fault that something bad is going on with us. They change something but do not let anything inform you that there may be a problem with the correct delivery of the internet ... I understand that there are probably many customers but anyway. There is a mail that costs nothing, etc etc. And now everything is fine ? Thanks for the tips and help in solving the topic ?

Topic summary

The user reports a significant drop in internet speed on their PS4, which has affected browsing and streaming capabilities. Despite good speeds on other devices, the PS4's performance has deteriorated after a recent update. The user has attempted various troubleshooting steps, including connecting via Ethernet, resetting the router, and testing on different networks, but the issue persists. Responses suggest checking the router's compatibility, potential ISP issues, and the possibility of Sony's servers affecting performance. A technician visit revealed that the internet service provider was making changes that impacted connectivity, leading to poor signal reception.
