VW Passat 2.0 TDI Bluemotion 2012 - Catalyst Damage Indicator On During Travel to Croatia

While traveling on vacation to Croatia, the yellow check engine light came on while driving, which after reading in the service book means catalyst damage and you should go to the service to check it. The car is VW Passat 2.0 TDI from 2012 has 236 000 km traveled. The car does not smoke, I also did not feel a decrease in power, except for the above-mentioned light there was and there are no other messages and work in emergency mode.
My question is whether I have to fix it in Croatia or will I be able to go back to the country and fix it with us?

The yellow check engine indicator can mean a lot of failures and the optimal solution would be to connect the vaga and read what exactly is going on. You can ask if someone took a laptop with the right interface with them and can check it for you. There is always a chance, because I, for example, always have such a set with me and then when reading the error from the controller we can advise something.

You are probably right that it can be not only a catalyst. I will ask if I can connect after the weekend I stay here until Wednesday, so I have a few more days. I once had a similar case in Toyota, also in diesel after refueling and driving about 40 km, the check engine light came on and then I drove to the ASO service, they checked and cleared the error by providing info that the engine control unit has generated an error and it can be repeated tomorrow, for month, year or even and they gave the estimated cost - but this indicator did not come on again and the car had a lot less traveled than in the present case. Now in the vw the indicator came on after a stop in a parking lot by the highway and I drove about 300 km after refueling

Don't read the instructions and don't stress. There could be 200 reasons for this. Come up to the error reading.

I will try to visit some workshop in Croatia on Monday / Tuesday I have some contact from the host with whom I am on vacation and if not I return to this error in Poland.
