Best answers

Why does my Electrolux refrigerator have a working freezer but no cooling in the fridge compartment, and what should I check first?

Check the freezer fan and defrost the appliance completely; in this model, a working freezer with a warm fridge usually points to a fan/airflow problem, frozen ducts, or a faulty thermostat [#16647175] [#16647461] [#16661050] [#16645902] With the freezer door open, press the door switch to force the fan on; if you cannot hear it, the fan may be frozen or damaged [#16647461] If the fan does run but the air from the vents is not cold, the cold-air channels between the freezer and fridge may be iced up [#16661050] A full defrost and drying is safe for a No Frost refrigerator and can clear blocked ducts [#16662743] In the thread, the fridge started working again after defrosting and installing a new thermostat [#16689395]

    Hello,
    I have an Electrolux ENF2440AOW refrigerator, PNC 925 993 055-02.
For 3 days, the refrigerator went crazy (the warranty has ended, of course) ...

The freezer keeps you cool and the fridge does nothing.
I tried to rummage through the instructions, move the slider from max to min and the knob from 1 to 7.
I turned off the electricity, checked if the seals were tight (if it really mattered at all).

I do not know about it, unfortunately, and I will be grateful for any hints of what it may be.

    Hello,
Maybe the thermostat from the refrigerator is damaged and does not turn on the aggregate (if you have two independent).

Is this craze all about ???
Maybe you can write something about the temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer sections.

The top of the refrigerator is ambient temperature - warm. Downstairs - yesterday the fridge went crazy and was freezing hard. Ice and frost on the drawers and doors. I took it all off, wiped it off. Today you could say that the bass just works, and the treble - not at all. Yesterday we took the thermostat out for a test - then no part of the refrigerator worked.

And where is such a fan located?
You will just hear that something is walking inside, do you have to open something and see it?

When you open the freezer door and press the freezer light switch, you should hear it, as it activates when both the freezer and refrigerator doors close. The fan is on the back wall of the freezer or in the duct between the freezer and the refrigerator, cold air is blowing from the freezer to the refrigerator.

We have no light in the freezer. It's just at the top in the fridge. Is it possible to check this fan somehow?
There is no cold air blowing in the refrigerator. Generally nothing blows there. It's only cold in the freezer.

There is a switch on the periphery in the freezer, such as in the refrigerator, which turns off the light in the refrigerator, that is, a pin that presses the freezer door in. If the refrigerator door is open and this pin [switch] is pressed, the fan should turn on. In normal operation, the fan turns on when both doors are closed, so we have to press this switch with the freezer door open. If you cannot hear the fan, it is probably frozen or damaged.

I checked. When the light in the refrigerator is turned off - the fan turns on. However, from the openings where cold air should blow - something is blowing, but it is not cold ...

We ordered a thermostat because someone advised us with this refrigerator.
However, for several days the condition of the refrigerator seems to have improved (the thermostat will arrive in 2 weeks).
The freezer is ok and the fridge has started to cool. Not as good as normal, but still cools ...

Try to defrost the refrigerator completely, if the fan is running, it looks like the fan ducts may be frosted and the cold air from the freezer has difficult access to the refrigerator

Can "No frost" refrigerators be defrosted? Nothing will happen to her?

You can defrost it and it will be fine, then dry it and turn it on again. Nothing can happen to her because what would happen if she was disconnected from the power supply for longer.

In the end, we got a new thermostat, and it took a while ... We defrosted the refrigerator, it stood a bit, I washed it all, and then we installed the thermostat. Fridge it works !! Thank you very much to everyone for every, even small, advice. You saved my refrigerator ;)

Topic summary

✨ The Electrolux ENF2440AOW refrigerator is experiencing a malfunction where the freezer operates normally while the fridge section fails to cool. The user has attempted various troubleshooting steps, including adjusting the thermostat and checking seals. Responses suggest potential issues with the thermostat or fan operation. FAQ

TL;DR: For Electrolux ENF2440AOW cases where the freezer works but the fridge doesn’t, this thread reports 1 successful fix: replace the thermostat after a full defrost—“it works.” [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16689395]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps owners quickly diagnose no-cool-in-fridge issues and decide on safe, DIY-first steps.

Quick Facts

Why is my Electrolux ENF2440AOW freezer cold but the fridge warm?

This model shares cooling. Air moves from the freezer to the fridge through ducts driven by a fan. If ducts ice up or airflow is blocked, the fridge warms while the freezer stays cold. A failing thermostat can also stop fridge cooling. “Cold air is blowing from the freezer to the refrigerator.” [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16647175]

How do I test the freezer fan without taking anything apart?

Open the freezer door. Press and hold the freezer door switch. The fan should start because it runs when both doors are closed. Listen for the fan and airflow. If silent, it may be frozen or failed. “The fan turns on when both doors are closed.” [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16647461]

Where is the fan that feeds cold air to the fridge compartment?

The fan sits on the back wall of the freezer or within the duct linking the freezer and fridge. It pushes cold air upward into the refrigerator section during normal operation. Check airflow at the fridge vents. [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16647175]

My fan runs, but the air in the fridge vents isn’t cold—what next?

The ducts are likely frosted over, restricting cold air. Do a full power-off defrost to clear ice, dry the cabinet, and restart. This restores airflow in many NoFrost units after icing events. “Try to defrost the refrigerator completely.” [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16661050]

Is it safe to manually defrost a NoFrost Electrolux?

Yes. Unplug the appliance, let it fully defrost, then dry and power it back on. This procedure is safe and often necessary to restore blocked airflow. Avoid heat sources and be patient while ice melts naturally. [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16662743]

What should I avoid when defrosting to prevent damage?

Do not use boiling water or direct heat to speed thawing. Sudden temperature shocks can warp plastics or damage liners. Let the ice melt naturally at room temperature for best results. “Provided that you do not defrost it with a pot of boiling water.” [Elektroda, Chupacabra, post #16663781]

Do I need to replace the thermostat to fix this?

In this thread, the final fix was a new thermostat after a full defrost. Cooling returned to normal immediately after installation. If your fan runs and ducts are clear, suspect the thermostat next. “Fridge it works!!” [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16689395]

What happens if I unplug or remove the thermostat for a test?

Removing the thermostat stopped both compartments in this case. That behavior suggests the thermostat controls compressor run permission. Use this as a diagnostic hint, not a long-term setup. [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16645994]

Is the ENF2440AOW a single- or dual-compressor fridge?

It is a single-compressor unit. A shared system cools the freezer, and a fan-duct arrangement brings cold air to the fridge. That’s why freezer-only cooling can occur with airflow issues. [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16646761]

How long might sourcing a thermostat take based on this case?

Expect around 2 weeks for delivery, based on the thread author’s order timeline. Plan temporary food storage accordingly while you wait and defrost. This real-world lead time helps plan repairs. [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16660185]

What early symptoms did the user observe before the fridge warmed up?

The top fridge area felt warm while the bottom over-froze, with ice on drawers and doors. After cleaning, airflow seemed weak. Those signs point to icing and airflow imbalance. “Yesterday the fridge went crazy and was freezing hard.” [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16645994]

How can I verify airflow if my freezer has no interior light?

Use the door switch. With the fridge light off and the freezer switch pressed, the fan should run. Feel for airflow at the fridge vents. The author confirmed airflow existed but wasn’t cold before defrost. [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16650130]

Quick 3-step how-to: restore fridge cooling after icing

  1. Unplug the fridge and leave doors open to fully defrost; allow all ice in ducts to melt.
  2. Dry interior surfaces thoroughly, then close doors and power on.
  3. Test the fan by pressing the freezer door switch; confirm cold airflow at fridge vents. [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16661050]

What if I press the switch and still hear no fan?

The fan may be frozen or failed. After a full defrost, retest. If still silent, the fan motor or wiring needs service. Avoid forcing blades. “If you cannot hear the fan, it is probably frozen or damaged.” [Elektroda, smielnicki, post #16647461]

Did the combination of defrosting plus thermostat replacement actually solve it?

Yes. After a thorough defrost and installing the new thermostat, the fridge resumed normal cooling. The author confirmed successful operation immediately. This sequence resolved the no-cool-in-fridge complaint. [Elektroda, Kalia22, post #16689395]
