    Hello,

I recently bought a Mercedes W211, on the day of purchase, when it got dark, I noticed stains on the meter (visible in the attached photo) It is a bit irritating because it looks ugly, and then something in it squeaks slightly (probably the backlight converter, because when I dim it with the potentiometer it stops ). The question is whether the backlight of the dials is a replaceable part? Do you need to replace the entire meter? Does it matter which meter will fit in the event of a replacement? Will the new odometer take mileage from the car?

Last question - where could these traces come from?

If possible, I would only like to replace the backlight.

Thank you in advance for your help.

It looks a bit like a flood fungus.

    I don't think it helps.

There are probably some bulbs / LEDs ...

Disassemble the meter and clean or replace the backlight.

    Hello,
Were you able to diagnose the cause and fix the problem?
In my S211 there are 2 small dots similar to the picture, one on the watch and the other next to the odometer.
I would like to add that my car did not float, I am the second owner from new, serviced in Aso until 2017

Moisture probably, some time ago I bought another copy of the w211, recently it spent a little over a month not fired, after that time when I fired it at the beginning it was ok, and after a while stains similar to the previous one began to appear.

    Added after 5 [minutes]:

For posterity: I dismantled the previous counter, electroluminescent panels are responsible for the backlight. It cannot be repaired or cleaned in any way - only replacement.
