Is the 1.4 60 HP engine collision. Year 2000. Engine model X14NZ. Of course, my question is about the timing belt breakage and is there great damage to the engine after such a defect?

You set it up, put on the belt and drive, it's a collision-free motor.

    Not true. Collision engine.

    1.6 is collision-free, 1.4 rather not.

1.4 is collision - I checked it while doing some work. You can put on the belt because maybe it worked, but I doubt it

The motor is 100% collision, and the belt breaking is mostly the fault of the worn gear on the shaft.

Sometimes 4 jumpers bent, sometimes all 8.

I would like to add that the symptoms that accompanied the failure was a sound as if I were driving a tire close to the curb, a typical noise. And it came up a couple of times and as I pressed the clutch, the noise stopped. And when you tried to move from the intersection, something seemed to loosen up and it did not start. After dismantling the belt cover, there are teeth broken off the belt for a distance of about 20 cm. Best regards.

Check if the water pump is not seized by accident.

empty20, 100% accurate diagnosis, seized water pump + new timing gear and the car runs like new.

A small excavation. The 1.4 X14NZ engine is 100% collision

Topic summary

The discussion centers around the Opel Astra F 1.4 60hp (X14NZ engine) and the implications of timing belt breakage. Responses indicate that the X14NZ engine is a collision engine, meaning that a timing belt failure can lead to significant internal damage, including bent valves. Users shared experiences of symptoms prior to failure, such as unusual noises and issues with starting. A seized water pump was identified as a potential cause of belt failure, and after replacing the timing gear and addressing the water pump issue, one user reported that the vehicle ran smoothly again.
