    Hello, this is my first car threaded here;
I have a problem with Opel Astra H r. 2004 Z16XEP engine - only gasoline, no gas system.
The engine goes out when I throw it loose, sometimes after a few kilometers, sometimes for more. When it goes off, I can immediately start it with the key when I stop, or when I am still rolling, release the clutch, put the gear in and the engine starts.
There are absolutely no problems with firing for now. The car goes out when I release the gas, put the slack and brakes, the revs should fall to idle, meanwhile the tachometer pointer flies through the idle without any vibration and the engine goes out, the standard lights for the ignition key ignition come on, then as above I start the car no problem. After a few stalling on a red light, it can go on without going to the end of the ride for the next 15-20 km.
No errors whatsoever, check engin does NOT light, the service key does not light either. I drove today with a mechanic with a computer connected (probably tech) while driving, the car went out while driving several times and did not catch any error ... and other parameters were according to the mechanic approx.
It can be assumed that the problem occurs when the engine is hot, although I would be careful here.
The mechanic said that there is nowhere to start and to wait for a particular error to light up, not to replace good parts for free, and for the first time he has something to do with it.
I will add that the previous day I refueled the car almost at full, and the next morning after about 8-10 km first went out and went out every now and then, so suspicion fell on the fuel. Tonight I heard that the car would lightly breathe out of exhaust (which was not ) at idle, if it does not go down, the rpm floats very lightly, while the engine runs evenly at high speed.
About 8 months ago candles and the ignition strip were changed because the ignition was falling out (here the computer signaled an error).
There was also an idea that the engine driver was failing.
Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions
    Paul

All vacuums checked for left air somewhere?
    Compression checked?

Probably not, the mechanic only hooked up with the computer, which probably does not allow compression readings - I do not know myself that much. On the podium, the computer said everything was okay.

Today, I got bugs, the check and service key lit up.
    Errors pasted:
    ECN 030000
    ECN 030400
    ECN 040063
    ECN 000000

Suction manifold x2 for disassembly (lower and upper part) + cleaning of egra ducts (in the collector) x4 ......

    - I read errors using the pressed gas and brake simultaneously + turning the key to ignition position, without starting the engine.

He will tell my mechanic about cleaning the collector so that he can understand it.

The above errors are the loss of ignition on the 4th cylinder and EGR, only that I changed candles and coil from 10 thousand km ago and would it again break?
After restarting the engine, errors and check disappeared, but after warming up Astra again went out in a row about 4 times then it magically went over and it was possible to go ...
And tell me, can this be caused by a falling engine driver? Or poor quality fuel?
The breakdown occurred suddenly, without any symptoms, including after refueling (only that Google does not pull, only goes out)

true, but probably EGR for replacement .....

In this engine, egra channels go to the base of the intake manifold (the one with flaps) and have four separate channels (to each cylinder separately) which clog up and then the EGR valve has nothing to do :) ... It is necessary to disassemble the intake manifold + collector bases with vortex flaps (egra channels can be seen in the photo) ..

I recorded a driving video and put it together in one short presentation about the problem. None Check engin. Other description below the movie on youtube.

Additional problems in addition to stalling:
    - Sometimes while driving, the pillow light blinks me, twice a day, or less often
-It happened that I switched off the handbrake on the engine off and without ignition, and the astra blinked 2x with emergency lights.
-It happens that when you turn off the dipped headlights on a lit engine, they continue to shine, go out after about 10 seconds when you turn off the engine and remove the key.
    - Sometimes the dash light does not illuminate on the dashboard, even though the lights are on.
MT35E engine driver after regeneration (I thought it would help, but unfortunately it didn't help). Maybe you need to set up a "new" different driver?

The problem is solved - the MT35E engine driver was to be replaced, after replacing the car does not go out and stopped sporadically pulling. Apart from the controller, I did not mention anything else, because I ended up in an engulfed workshop from Opel in Warsaw. They diagnosed until now, they were almost sure it was a driver. I would add that the regeneration of this driver failed because it is difficult to repair (a significant part of the electronics is flooded with glue, gel and without complete devastation it cannot be reached. So you had to put in an efficient drug.
In addition, the defective cables on the dashboard from time to time were responsible for the damaged cable from the X1 connector (as the electronics said), it is somewhere around the bonnet opening lever.

    Thanks for all the advice.
    Regards

Hello, how are your astra after replacing the driver? I have identical symptoms of the same year and engine. It goes off when it wants and sometimes it flies normally. Tell your car going out as you stood or just while driving?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2004 Opel Astra H with a Z16XEP gasoline engine experiencing sudden shut-offs during idle or braking. The owner reports that the engine stalls when releasing the gas, with no prior warning signs or error codes displayed. Initial diagnostics by a mechanic indicated no issues, but subsequent error codes were retrieved, suggesting problems with ignition on the fourth cylinder and the EGR system. Suggestions from forum members included checking vacuum leaks, cleaning the intake manifold and EGR ducts, and considering the replacement of the EGR valve. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the MT35E engine driver, which had failed despite previous regeneration attempts. Additional electrical issues were also noted, including dashboard light malfunctions and erratic behavior of the handbrake indicator.
