    Hello
The patient is Skoda Octavia 2, 2005 1.6 FSI. The car came to me with a skipped timing chain. After replacing all the valves and putting the engine together, the car worked fine for 15 minutes. After the test, it turned out that the compression pressure on the first cylinder is only 3 Bar. After further research, I was able to determine that the exhaust valves are hanging on the first cylinder. All I need to do is squeeze the oil out of the hydro tappets and until they are refitted, apart from the tappets of the tappets, the engine runs smoothly.

At first, I replaced the pushers with other used ones. I also changed places. I checked 5 bar oil pressure on a cold engine so it is definitely not too high, I checked all oil channels for patency. Once removed, the pushers can be pressed together with pliers without any problem. The only thing that comes to mind is that the valve springs are too weak, although I swapped them places and there is no difference.

Have any of you met with such a case or can you advise something else? Because I'm slowly starting to lose my patience and think about replacing the engine.

How were the valve guides in?

The crooked valve hangs in the guide, the hydro tappet eliminates the play and you still know what to do.

They didn't look excessively worn. They were also not oval shaped. The valves in the guides moved smoothly. When moving the valve "from side to side", a slight play was felt, the same in all directions. So I guess ok

I will add that the engine temperature has no effect on the symptoms described. Hot engine closes the valves after disassembling the rollers. I checked by blowing air with a compressor into the cylinder with the piston in the upper position and "flooding" the valves on the side of the manifolds with leak detection fluid. With the shafts of the exhaust valves, the bubbles come out, without the shafts - no.

Possible the new valve is crooked? I guess I would have detected this when lapping and assembling.
