    Hello,
I have a problem with Samsung Galaxy S6 FLAT, when my mobile data is off, the phone connects to LTE + and has a very poor range.
If I turn on cellular data, LTE + appears and very weak range and after a while switches to LTE and is full range, but if I have switched off cellular data, the phone should maintain LTE + connection.
The phone is on the PLUS network.

    Network in the StandBy state:
Samsung Galaxy s6 - The phone has a poor range, connects to LTE + and loses cove
Network when I turn on cellular data:
Samsung Galaxy s6 - The phone has a poor range, connects to LTE + and loses cove
How the network will switch to LTE:
Samsung Galaxy s6 - The phone has a poor range, connects to LTE + and loses cove
There was no such thing before.
I am asking for help with solving this problem.

Switch permanently to 2G or 3G mode and check the range.

I've already done it, but it is cumbersome, and the internet is slow in this mode.
And besides, this phone has been working without a problem for a year and now something has broken.
And in general this is a phone in StandBy mode that should have a network, because I think that 2G or 3G? And not LTE +

In 2G mode it is 100% and in 3G also 100%.

Added after 9 [hours] 47 [minutes]:

Just today I noticed that in the AUTO network selection mode, the phone does not connect to a network lower than LTE, LTE coverage ends, the phone reports no range, I have to switch to 2G / 3G in settings and then the range is 100%.
Send a phone for a warranty. I even uploaded a new soft from the SmartSwitch level and it did not help.

If the software update did not give anything, the service remains.

The fault did not arise after one of the order of software updates? If it is on warranty then it can be sent back. Or try to upload the latest software.

I think so after some update, the guarantees reject me because they say that it is ok. The software is up to date.

The case looks like this at the moment:
After the loss of coverage, the phone changes networks to niches (UMTS).
And now, as I have switched off the cellular data and enter the settings -> Device information -> Status-> SIM card status and I write to it "LTE cellular network type" Should this be the case or should be switched to (UMTS). There is no LTE, 3G sign on the notification bar because the cellular data is turned off. Samsung Galaxy s6 - The phone has a poor range, connects to LTE + and loses cove

If someone has a SAMSUNGA GALAXY S6 (preferably with a PLUS card) then I would ask him to check if he has LTE in these SIM card parameters (Of course without mobile data enabled).

You can easily upload, for example, without the XEO brand:

    For Android 7.0:
    07 May 2017 Poland (XEO) G920FXXU5EQD7
    06 July 2017 Poland (XEO) G920FXXU5EQFC
    28 July 2017 Poland (XEO) G920FXXS5EQG1

    For Android 6.0.1:
    07 February 2017 Poland (XEO) G920FXXU5DQA7
    06 April 2017 Poland (XEO) G920FXXS5DQC1

I would start with the softa from May with Nougat. Maybe Pomerania. These three versions are older than yours on the Android 7 phone, and two versions on 6.0.1. It will not hurt to hurt or maybe it will help. This digit '' 5 '' in the middle of the version designation of the software is crucial for flash.

You do not need all of them in turn - try to upload the oldest Android 7, and the newest 6.0.1 if it does not help ...

    So search: G920FXXU5EQD7
    And then: G920FXXS5DQC1

For plus gsm, you generally have a smaller choice to look for:

    For Android 7:
    27 May 2017 Poland (PLUS) G920FXXU5EQCS

    For Android 6.0.1:
    20 February 2017 Poland (PLUS) G920FXXU5DQA7

Here the downgrade should go without a problem with Nugat on Marshmallow.

Before the soft - as well as after a hard reset from the keys .... soft you can find on updato.com

It's just that if I change to 3G or just fall into such a network, UMTS shows up there.
I only mean if the phone with no active cellular data should maintain the connection with LTE 2100 MHz (This is probably LTE +)

PROBLEM SOLVED _ It was enough to buy a new phone ...

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around connectivity issues with the Samsung Galaxy S6, specifically regarding poor LTE + range when mobile data is disabled. The user reports that the phone connects to LTE + but experiences weak signal strength, while switching to LTE provides full range. Suggestions include switching to 2G or 3G modes, but the user finds this inconvenient due to slower internet speeds. The problem seems to have arisen after a software update, and attempts to resolve it through software reinstallation have been unsuccessful. Other users recommend checking the software version and considering warranty service. Ultimately, the user humorously concludes that the problem was resolved by purchasing a new phone.

FAQ

TL;DR: Thread shows 3 Android 7.0 and 2 Android 6.0.1 firmware options; an expert noted, “This digit ‘5’ in the middle of the version designation of the software is crucial for flash.” Users reported LTE/LTE+ dropouts. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16727286] Why it matters: If your Galaxy S6 loses coverage on LTE/LTE+, this FAQ helps you test, reflash, or decide on service/replacement, fast.

Quick Facts

Why does my Galaxy S6 show LTE+ with poor range or drop coverage?

In this case, LTE/LTE+ stalled while 2G/3G held 100% signal. The behavior started after updates, suggesting a firmware or radio stack change. AUTO mode also failed to fall back below LTE. That points to software preference or a hardware RF fault that affects LTE bands only. Testing in 2G/3G isolates the radio from LTE features. If 2G/3G is stable and LTE is not, proceed with firmware reflash or service. [Elektroda, PitiStewart, post #16722268]

Does LTE stay connected when mobile data is off?

The SIM Status screen can still show “LTE” even with data off. That label reflects the preferred network mode, not the active connection. You may actually be on UMTS/3G or have no LTE session, yet the setting still reads LTE. This distinction confused the original poster until clarified. "Here he shows you what you have set and not what network is connected to." [Elektroda, leonov, post #16726938]

How do I quickly test if coverage issues are LTE-specific?

Force the phone to 2G or 3G only and check signal stability. If your bars jump to full and calls work, the basic radio and SIM are fine. Then switch back to LTE to see if the problem returns. This isolates LTE/RAT selection as the culprit. Use this as a diagnostic before reflashing or service. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16721825]

What’s the exact symptom in AUTO network selection?

AUTO should fall back to 3G/2G when LTE fades. In the thread, the phone in AUTO would not connect to anything below LTE. When LTE ended, it showed no service until the user manually chose 2G/3G, which immediately gave full signal. That indicates a selection or firmware logic fault. [Elektroda, PitiStewart, post #16722268]

Which firmware versions were suggested as potential fixes?

One expert listed multiple XEO builds: Android 7.0 (G920FXXU5EQD7, G920FXXU5EQFC, G920FXXS5EQG1) and Android 6.0.1 (G920FXXU5DQA7, G920FXXS5DQC1). PLUS-branded builds were also provided. The guidance was to try the oldest Nougat first, then the newest Marshmallow if needed. The note stressed the middle digit “5” match for flashing. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16727286]

How do I downgrade or flash the stock ROM on a Galaxy S6?

Use Odin to upload an original Samsung ROM. 1) Install Odin on a PC and boot the phone into Download Mode. 2) Load the matching stock firmware files in Odin. 3) Start flash and wait for PASS, then factory reset if required. The advisor summarized: Odinem is how you upload original ROM. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16732999]

Where can I find the firmware files mentioned above?

The advisor pointed to updato.com when discussing the specific builds. Search the exact build strings shared, such as G920FXXU5EQD7 or G920FXXS5DQC1. Verify the region code (XEO for unbranded Poland, PLUS for operator) before flashing. Ensure the middle digit aligns with your device’s bootloader. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16727286]

What code shows my current software version for troubleshooting?

Dial *#1234# to see the software version strings. Share those to match the correct firmware family and decide on downgrade or reflash steps. The helper requested this readout before proposing a flashing plan. Keep those strings handy when downloading files. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725591]

Will warranty service fix this LTE dropout issue?

One expert concluded that if updating doesn’t help, service remains the path. In practice, the user reported service considered the phone OK, and the issue persisted. The guidance still stands: escalate to service once software steps are exhausted. “If the software update did not give anything, the service remains.” [Elektroda, leonov, post #16723869]

What network and settings were the user on when issues appeared?

The device was a Samsung Galaxy S6 (flat) on the PLUS network. With mobile data off, the phone connected as LTE+ but showed weak range. Turning data on brought LTE with full range temporarily, then fluctuations resumed. This helped frame the LTE-focused troubleshooting. [Elektroda, PitiStewart, post #16721789]

What does LTE+ mean here, and is LTE 2100 involved?

The poster referred to LTE+ and mentioned LTE 2100 MHz in their area. They wanted to know if LTE should persist with data off. Treat the label as the phone’s display of available LTE aggregation or band, not proof of active data. The thread focused on behavior, not exact band mapping. [Elektroda, PitiStewart, post #16728277]

What if flashing and settings tweaks don’t resolve it?

An edge case occurred: after updates and checks, the user replaced the phone. The replacement solved the problem immediately. That outcome points to a hardware-related RF defect on the original handset. Keep this in mind if software remedies fail. [Elektroda, PitiStewart, post #16742148]
