Hello. I can not cope with changing the system and that's why I am asking for help. I have bought an HP 250G5 Laptop with a wine system installed 10 years ago. I do not like this system very much and I wanted to change it to win 7. As I have never had a problem with it, now I can not move. He does not see the pendrive or the disc in the drive. Probably the problem lies in the bios settings, I am so aware of this on average, the more so because I do not know English. Please help as much as possible. Thank you in advance.

Welcome. When installing Windows 7, it's worth trying:
    Secure Boot: Disabled
    Legacy Support: Enabled
    USB Boot: Enabled

When booting, select the boot menu (most of the HP is the F9 key) and select the media with the system installer. If there are two items describing the same carrier, it is worth trying to select the item without the UEFI addition.

If this pendrive is connected (and functional), it looks like the option Legacy Support was turned off. I hope you saved your changes after they were introduced?

After confirming the changes, he was constantly returning to disabled, I had to enter the code 0123 and enter, only the drives showed up.
a change to the operating system. secure bot mode is pending.
please enter the pass code displayed below to complete the change
if you did not initiate this request, press the key to continue without accepting the pending change

When installing the system I had to change the disk from GPT to MBR and for now everything is going well,

Added after 1 [hour] 30 [minutes]:

Gentlemen, the system is installed, but I can not hang the drivers under win7 32, in the HP support is only for my HP 250 G5 under win7 64

Who installs 32bits? You have less than 4GB of RAM there to make sense?

ACPI \ MSFT0101 - is not supported under Windows 7, if you have the option to disable it in the Intel PTT (Platform Trust Technology) or TPM BIOS.

You can install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2920...-tpm-2-0-in-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008 - maybe help.

    8086: 9CA2 - Intel Inf - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/207...ice-Software-INF-Update-Utility-?product=1145

ACPI \ SYN3221 is a TouchPad for SMBUS, you can try the Synaptics drivers directly download, but I do not know if they will work: http://www.synaptics.com/resources (of course for Windows 7).

Thanks to my friend for help, but you're right, I think I'll leave with this version of the system. Up to 64bit are all needed drivers so there will be no problem. For now, thanks again. greetings

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 7 on an HP 250G5 laptop, focusing on BIOS settings and drive recognition issues. The user initially faced problems with the laptop not detecting the USB drive or installation disc. Suggestions included disabling Secure Boot, enabling Legacy Support, and ensuring USB Boot was enabled in the BIOS. After some troubleshooting, the user managed to install Windows 7 by converting the disk from GPT to MBR. However, they encountered difficulties finding drivers for Windows 7 32-bit, leading to a recommendation to switch to 64-bit, which had better driver support. Specific device identifiers were provided for driver searches, including Intel chipset and Synaptics TouchPad drivers.

FAQ

TL;DR: To install Windows 7 on an HP 250 G5, change 3 BIOS settings and, when prompted, enter code "0123"; “secure boot mode is pending.” [Elektroda, zbyh 62, post #16764751]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps owners fix no-boot media issues and complete a reliable Windows 7 install on HP 250 G5 laptops.

Quick-Facts:

Quick Facts

How do I make my HP 250 G5 see the USB installer for Windows 7?

In BIOS, disable Secure Boot, enable Legacy Support, and enable USB Boot. Save changes. At startup, press F9 to open the boot menu and choose the entry for your USB. If two entries appear for the same device, pick the one without “UEFI.” [Elektroda, dt1, post #16763467]

My BIOS changes revert and I see a message about Secure Boot—what do I do?

After toggling Secure Boot/Legacy, the system may require confirmation. Enter the displayed passcode—on this model it was 0123—to apply changes and reveal bootable drives. [Elektroda, zbyh 62, post #16764751]

Do I need to convert GPT to MBR to install Windows 7 in Legacy mode?

Yes. For a Legacy (non‑UEFI) Windows 7 install, convert the system drive from GPT to MBR. This allowed the installer to proceed and complete successfully for the HP 250 G5. [Elektroda, zbyh 62, post #16764751]

Should I use Windows 7 32‑bit or 64‑bit on an HP 250 G5?

Choose 64‑bit. As one expert put it, “Installing the 32 bit version is pointless.” Driver availability and performance are better on 64‑bit for this model. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765298]

Which devices typically miss drivers on Win7 32‑bit, and how can I identify them?

Common missing devices include ACPI\MSFT0101 (TPM/Intel PTT), Intel chipset IDs like VEN_8086&DEV_9CA2, and Synaptics touchpad ACPI\SYN3221. Check Device Manager hardware IDs to match each device and source suitable drivers or workarounds. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765379]

How do I resolve the ACPI\MSFT0101 error on Windows 7?

This maps to TPM 2.0/Intel PTT. Fix by disabling Intel PTT/TPM in BIOS or by installing the Microsoft update that adds TPM 2.0 support for Windows 7. “Disable PTT if possible” is a reliable workaround. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765379]

What driver fixes VEN_8086&DEV_9CA2 on this laptop?

Install the Intel Chipset Device Software (INF). After installation, the device enumerates correctly and dependent drivers install smoothly. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765379]

My touchpad shows as ACPI\SYN3221—how do I enable it on Windows 7?

Install appropriate Synaptics Windows 7 drivers. On some units, the device connects via SMBus, and using current Synaptics packages restores gesture and click functionality. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765379]

What is UEFI vs. Legacy boot, and which should I pick for Win7?

UEFI is the modern firmware interface; Legacy emulates traditional BIOS. For Windows 7 on this HP, users succeeded by enabling Legacy and selecting the non‑UEFI entry from the F9 boot list. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16763467]

Three-step How‑To: start the Windows 7 installer on HP 250 G5

  1. In BIOS: Disable Secure Boot; Enable Legacy Support; Enable USB Boot.
  2. Save and reboot; press F9 for the boot menu.
  3. Pick the USB entry without “UEFI” to launch setup. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16763467]

USB still doesn’t appear in F9—what’s the likely cause?

If the USB is connected and known good yet not listed, Legacy Support may still be disabled or changes were not saved. Re‑enter BIOS, confirm settings, save, and retry F9. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16763592]

I changed settings, but drives only appeared after entering a code—normal?

Yes. HP firmware requires a one‑time passcode confirmation after changing Secure Boot state. Enter the shown code (e.g., 0123) to finalize and expose boot devices. [Elektroda, zbyh 62, post #16764751]

Are official HP drivers available for Windows 7 64‑bit on the 250 G5?

Yes. The thread author confirmed all needed drivers were available for the 64‑bit edition and switched accordingly. This improved compatibility. [Elektroda, zbyh 62, post #16765403]

Any edge cases I should watch for during setup?

Expect TPM‑related errors (ACPI\MSFT0101) on Windows 7. If the Microsoft update fails or isn’t integrated, disable Intel PTT/TPM to proceed. This is a common blocker. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16765379]

How many BIOS settings must I change before installing?

Change three toggles before booting the installer: Secure Boot Disabled, Legacy Support Enabled, and USB Boot Enabled. Save and then use F9. [Elektroda, dt1, post #16763467]
