Krups EA8160 Espresso Machine: Cleaning Program Issues - Tablet Not Dissolving Properly

I’d like some advice on how to use the cleaning programme on my Krups EA 8160 coffee machine correctly. Whenever the machine indicates that maintenance is required, I carry out all the maintenance steps in accordance with the instruction manual. Before starting the automatic cleaning cycle, I place a cleaning tablet in the container and then start the programme. For some time now, there has been a problem whereby, once the cleaning process is complete, the machine ejects the cleaning tablet – practically untouched (or perhaps slightly worn) – into the coffee grounds container, meaning the cleaning programme ran without using the tablet. I’ve repeated this process and even tried different tablets, but the problem persists. Could you please advise whether these symptoms indicate a fault with the coffee machine? I should add that I took the machine to the warranty service centre, describing this situation. However, they concluded that everything was fine, which I cannot entirely agree with.

By the way I am wondering, that earlier the tablet dissolved in its entirety, and now falls out almost unaffected, the fact looks like "dried", but apart from minor defects it is almost whole. I also have an additional question, is it possible to read the number of coffees made up to date, is there any instruction, how to read this parameter without visiting the website? Perhaps the quantity of coffees made has an impact on the course of the purification process.

I totally agree. Sometimes it's the case that the tablets dissolve to half, but it's more a question of the tablets themselves.
If the tablet is thrown only a little deformed, it is the most natural symptom and the brew chamber has been cleaned.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to check the amount of coffee for the user in this model. The menu is very thin.

Hello. I have the same problem with the tablet not dissolving. The tablet is thrown away completely slightly dissolved because only the first moment the water passes through the chamber with the tablet, then everything goes to the drip tray without foam because it bypasses the tablet and the piston chamber in which it is located. Any advice ideas?

Hello, I have similar problem. When I start cleaning cycle, water does not come out. It runs directly in container on bottom, and on the end whole tablet is ejected. What can I do?

I bought a set of gaskets for my model. Originally, I was supposed to replace the seals of the valve itself, but my coffee machine, apart from the impossibility of cleaning, dumped a lot of water and coffee residues into the tray. I replaced all the seals. The problem is gone. A set of gaskets PLN 62. There is a little bit of work, but it can be done with a bit of free time ???.

My set of old gaskets looked like this. They didn't look bad, but so as not to wonder which and what they all went to.

I have the same problem with my machine, when I want to use the cleaning tablet, only the first jet of water comes through the coffee pipes the rest goes into the tray for residual water. Did anybody find a fix for this problem? I searched all the internet and all of Google and no answer until this forum.

Hello, I am struggling with the same problem, has anyone of you finally dealt with it? It seems to me that this may be due to the blocking of the old pill during application inside the coffee maker (below the drawer). I am going to unscrew the coffee machine and see, unless someone of you already has a specific answer on how to fix it.
