    Hello!
I am asking for advice on the proper functioning of the cleaning program in the Krups EA 8160 espresso machine. After expressing the need for the maintenance of the appliance, I carry out all maintenance operations according to the instructions. Before starting the automatic cleaning cycle, I throw a cleaning tablet into the container, and then start the program. For some time, there has been a problem that after the cleaning process has finished, the coffee machine throws a virtually untouched (or slightly used) cleaning tablet into the coffee grounds container, so the cleaning program runs without using a tablet. I repeated this process, I even changed the tablets for others, but the problem is repeated. Please, let me know if these symptoms are indicative of the breakdown of the machine? I would like to add that the machine was sent to the warranty service, describing this situation. There, however, it was stated that everything is OK, with which I can not agree to the end.

    Hello.
The tablet should only be injected when the machine asks for it. Please read the instructions.

I do not know how the program would ask for a tablet. When the signal for the need for cleaning with the tablet appears behind the display, I follow the instructions:
Cleaning program - total duration: about 13 minutes
When the device announces the need to perform a cleaning program, you do not have to do it right away, nevertheless
however, the program should be executed as soon as possible. If the cleaning is postponed, the message
The warning message will be displayed until cleaning is performed.
? If a pictogram is displayed, the automatic cleaning program can be started. Including
press the maintenance and settings button. Choose a pictogram. Function indicator
    located above the maintenance button.
? The automatic cleaning program consists of 2 parts: the correct cleaning cycle and the rinsing cycle.
Cleaning can be carried out at any time. To do this, press the button
maintenance and settings, and then select the cleaning pictogram using the navigation button
? A 0.6-liter vessel will be needed to carry out the cleaning program
can be placed under the coffee outlets and the steam nozzle. The pictogram is flashing.
? Lift the drip tray (28).
? Insert the KRUPS cleaning tablet into the container (29).
? Fill the water container to a maximum of 1.7 liters (2).
? Empty the grounds container, drip tray and wash the coffee drawer (23-24-25).
? Place a 0.6 liter container under the coffee and steam jets (30).
? Press START. The pictogram stops flashing. The first stage begins (about 10 minutes).
After completing this stage empty the drip tray. The pictogram flashes. Put the elements in place.
? Press START. The pictogram stops flashing, the final stage begins (about 3 minutes). After
completing this stage empty the container and the drip tray. The cycle has ended, the menu appears
    "Choosing coffee".

I do not know in what other way the device should signal the necessity of throwing a tablet, if not just in this one. In addition, as is clear from the instructions, the cleaning program can also be called alone, although the device does not report such a need.

Yes, it's natural ... These pills do not dissolve only because of their effect is foam which cleans the brewing chamber.
Relax ... Despite the ejection of the tablet, the cleaning procedure was successfully carried out.

Thanks for the answer, finally someone has specifically answered the question bothering me. By the way I am wondering, that earlier the tablet dissolved in its entirety, and now falls out almost unaffected, the fact looks like "dried", but apart from minor defects it is almost whole. I also have an additional question, is it possible to read the number of coffees made up to date, is there any instruction, how to read this parameter without visiting the website? Perhaps the quantity of coffees made has an impact on the course of the purification process.

I totally agree. Sometimes it's the case that the tablets dissolve to half, but it's more a question of the tablets themselves.
If the tablet is thrown only a little deformed, it is the most natural symptom and the brew chamber has been cleaned.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to check the amount of coffee for the user in this model. The menu is very thin.

Let me ask Expert because he has not exhausted the thread:
How do you trigger additional cleaning and descaling?
In fact, the manual mentions this, but does not describe the procedure.
    best regards

Hello. I have the same problem with the tablet not dissolving. The tablet is thrown away completely slightly dissolved because only the first moment the water passes through the chamber with the tablet, then everything goes to the drip tray without foam because it bypasses the tablet and the piston chamber in which it is located. Any advice ideas?

Hello, I have similar problem. When I start cleaning cycle, water does not come out. It runs directly in container on bottom, and on the end whole tablet is ejected. What can I do?

    Two-bar valve for replacement.

I bought a set of gaskets for my model. Originally, I was supposed to replace the seals of the valve itself, but my coffee machine, apart from the impossibility of cleaning, dumped a lot of water and coffee residues into the tray. I replaced all the seals. The problem is gone. A set of gaskets PLN 62. There is a little bit of work, but it can be done with a bit of free time ???.

My set of old gaskets looked like this. They didn't look bad, but so as not to wonder which and what they all went to.

    Hello,
I have the same problem with my machine, when I want to use the cleaning tablet, only the first jet of water comes through the coffee pipes the rest goes into the tray for residual water. Did anybody find a fix for this problem? I searched all the internet and all of Google and no answer until this forum.
    Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am struggling with the same problem, has anyone of you finally dealt with it? It seems to me that this may be due to the blocking of the old pill during application inside the coffee maker (below the drawer). I am going to unscrew the coffee machine and see, unless someone of you already has a specific answer on how to fix it.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with the cleaning program of the Krups EA 8160 espresso machine, specifically regarding cleaning tablets not dissolving properly during the automatic cleaning cycle. Users report that the tablets are ejected almost intact after the cleaning process, indicating potential malfunction. Some suggest that the problem may stem from the tablets themselves or from blockages within the machine. Others have experienced similar issues, with water bypassing the tablet and flowing directly into the drip tray. Recommendations include checking for blockages, replacing seals, and ensuring proper tablet usage as per the machine's instructions. However, some users express frustration over the lack of clear solutions and the machine's warranty service response.
