    Hello forum users,

After replacing the rear brake pads in the Passat b6 1.9 TDI r2008 I lost access to the basic settings in the parking brake (VCDS). In other words - I go into basic settings and Nothing can be done there:

007 - piston extraction not working (ERROR ..)

006 - piston tightening does not work (ERROR ...)

010 - brake test cannot be performed (ERROR ...)

It happened because I mistakenly pressed options 006 (tightening the pistons) while the mechanism was pulled off the dial. Later, I couldn't automatically pull back the pistons with option 007 so after turning off the battery, I pulled back the pistons using inverted poles.

On the dashboard the red exclamation mark on the right flashes and on the left there is a lamp with the crossed out P, also the lamp of the parking brake button flashes.

After the VCDS scan, I have this:

    Address 01: Engine Labels: 03G-906-021-BLS.clb

I will add that the foot brake is very "soft" and I manage to brake the car only after almost completely pressing the pedal. An interesting fact is that the parking brake is applied - I can take it from the button and pull it despite the flashing exclamation mark on the board and the yellow button flashing. However, he feels that the foot brake is not as if supported by an electrician. ..

I suspect that maybe you need to "do" something in "advance settings" with the code probably 40168. Someone may have encountered such a problem or have any suggestions what to do? ?

Something is wrong with reading errors.
J500 is power steering, since ABS has no communication with it, the list of drivers should mention that it is impossible to connect to it, the same should be some errors in the parking brake.
Give a reading of the entire car.
Are the measuring blocks working or have you tried to switch to the settings through them?

This is a full scan reading - only these two errors are displayed. Measuring blocks - is your colleague about basic settings - 006,007,010? You can enter the basic settings but nothing can be done there. The measuring blocks display an error. Then connect again and send the photo.

I do not believe that by sliding out the pistons with a computer without a mechanism, something could have happened to the controller ... after all, something could have happened to everyone and simply the computer could pull out the pistons to check whether it was sliding out, etc.

This is not a scan of the entire car, it is a scan fragment. There is no ABS communication with support, and there should be something in the support.
Basic settings [04] are basic settings and measuring blocks are measurment blocks [08].

I scanned again - this time I attached a full scan so that there was no doubt (Annex Log-194580km-120906mi - 26.10.2017-electrode). An additional error occurred:

    012295 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
    P3007 - 000 - No Signal - Intermittent

and in the parking brake section:

02432 - Supply Voltage for Left Parking Brake Motor (V282)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - MIL ON

I deleted the DTC and did the scan again (attachment Log-194580km-120906mi - 26.10.2017 - electrode after DTC erase). The error in the parking brake section no longer appeared.

This is how I look in basic settings (attachments Basic settings gr 006-010).

I also took measurements in the measuring blocks (Measuring blocks 001-019) and advanced (Adv Measuring blocks) sections.

It is strange that it shows that there is voltage for the left and right brake (group 006) while at the first scan something was shouting that there is an intermittent voltage for the left brake mechanism.

A strange thing has happened - my wife accidentally turned on auto hold while driving. Auto hold started to work and the error in the engine and parking brake disappeared after erasing (another scan did not find it). The exclamation mark on the board and the brake light also stopped flashing. The light with the crossed out P disappeared. After the next scan, there is only an error in ABS:

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 3C0-614-109-C4.clb
    ...

    1 Fault Found:

    004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

The foot brake is unfortunately still "soft" - anyone has an idea what to do to start functioning as before?

zapowietrzył :) during the auto extension of the piston after pulling the brake mechanism off the disc (never do it in passats B6 - only when the mechanism is installed :) .

After venting, I was able to automatically pull the pistons and pull on the computer, followed by the hand brake test successfully :)

Topic summary

After replacing the rear brake pads on a 2008 Volkswagen Passat B6 1.9 TDI, the user encountered issues with the parking brake system, specifically losing access to basic settings in VCDS and receiving multiple error codes related to piston extraction and tightening. The user mistakenly activated the piston tightening function while the mechanism was disconnected, leading to communication errors with the ABS and parking brake systems. Subsequent scans revealed additional faults, including a camshaft position sensor error and an electrical fault in the parking brake motor circuit. After erasing the DTCs and performing further scans, the parking brake error resolved itself when the auto hold feature was inadvertently activated. However, the foot brake remained soft, prompting inquiries about potential bleeding of the braking system, which was confirmed necessary after the piston extension process. Successful retraction of the pistons and hand brake testing followed after bleeding the system.
