    Hello,
In the near future I intend to change the timing with the variable timing wheel (it started to make a lot of noise) in my car and as much as changing the chain, guides, tensioner, etc. is not a problem, I can't find information about setting a new wheel. Unfortunately, I did not find such information in the autodata. I would be grateful if someone would describe how to set it up, or send any instructions if they have it.

It is not necessary to disassemble the variator to replace the chain. When disassembling it, it can only be mounted in one position (pin on the shaft and hole in the variator). Replace the chain and tensioner like a sash. Leave the rest alone. The chain is best original. I happened to change the chain after a year because the owner bought a set "for good money".

I bought the timing kit from DAYCO, while the wheel, when the engine warms up, pats like a diesel ... I can attach a recording with YT later

How pats it actually needs to be replaced. Unscrew the variator, mount a new one and that's it.

From what I read it has a 60 ° rotation angle, you certainly do not need to set it correctly?

    Added after 4 [minutes]:

I will disassemble the rollers anyway to measure the height of the glasses, because they also pat.

this is an instruction on how to check the variator. If you replace it with a new one, it doesn't apply to you.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around replacing the variable camshaft timing wheel in a Toyota Yaris 1.0 (1SZ-FE) due to noise issues. Participants clarify that disassembling the variator is unnecessary for chain replacement, as it can only be mounted in one position. The timing wheel has a 60° rotation angle, and while some suggest it may not need precise setting, others mention the importance of ensuring proper installation. There are references to using compressed air in the oil supply channel for the variator, although this is deemed irrelevant for those replacing it with a new unit. The timing kit mentioned is from DAYCO.
