Hello, I currently have 1DB HDD from Toshiba, and I wanted to buy SSD for the system. Now I have 2 partitions: for C I have 174GB, free 111GB and I do not know if replacing with 120GB SSD will not be too small area.
PS. I will save games on HDD.

250 GB, you will quickly start installing games on SSD because, for example, BF4 loads about 5 times faster than HDD. I know, because I have a SSD 120 GB bought when SSD was expensive.

If you will use SSD only on the system or "a few files" 120 is enough.
PS. You can spend the money saved on upgrades

And how do we know how much space do you need? Some buy a 1TB drive and are happy, I have 2TB HDD and 256GB SSD and in about 2 months I filled the whole SSD and half of the HDD.

The author wrote that he currently has ~ 63GB occupied on C. From this it can be concluded that 120GB is enough.
However, if you play a lot and you have enough money, buy a larger SSD right away because everything loads faster.
I purchased SSD for a second computer this month, but I do not play at all, and everything on my C after 3 years after installing the system takes 54GB, so I bought 128GB and I'm happy.
Nobody will make that decision for you. You have to decide for yourself what is most important to you. If the games will be installed on the HDD then the remaining money can be used for other purposes :)

You already answered in the founding post. Even taking the amendment to transfer programs to HDD is still 120GB is not enough. These 256 GB gives you some freedom to install, update the system, new drivers, etc. I am slowly putting together my new computer, I do not intend to play and still wonder if 256 GB SSD is not enough.

From this one can only conclude that the author made himself too large a system partition (or someone muses did) and either is afraid to throw other things on it, or prefers to fill the second partition first.

    I chose 128GB from Adata :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the decision to upgrade from a Toshiba 1TB HDD to either a 120GB or 250GB SSD for system use. Users suggest that while a 120GB SSD may suffice for basic system files, it could quickly become inadequate, especially for gaming, as SSDs significantly improve load times. Many recommend opting for a 250GB SSD to allow for future software installations and updates, particularly if the user plays games frequently. The author ultimately decided on a 128GB SSD from Adata, indicating a preference for a balance between cost and storage needs.
