    Hello

I have a problem with Larek model: 43.1. While navigating mainly on larger routes such as highway, bypass, etc., working in the extended skin mode (GJ6.9.3p), the IGO8 program crashes the error message "Out of memory". I tried to reinstall the application, reset to the initial settings but unfortunately it did not work. After switching to the default skin (no gadgets) IGO works on any route and does not display a message. I have an original map.

I have a question. How to get rid of this error? On other maps (i.e. MapaMap easy) it works without any problems.

    Please help

    greetings

Probably your device does not have enough RAM to work properly with many functions.

The maps have grown and so are the hardware requirements. Lark 43.1 has 64MB RAM and at the moment it is not enough - minimum 128, and even better 256MB.

iGO 8.3.4 has zero hardware requirements, so it should flicker on Lark 43.x.
Remove all "obstacles" from iGO, ie 3D terrain, radars, POIs and others as described in the post And in the MAPS folder, just leave * .fbl files

Add / modify DEBUG section with entries
    cache = 2048
    reserve_memory = 2,000,000

The igo itself has minimal hardware requirements, but maps, especially the latest HERE, do. on devices with Tomtom Maps working, HERE Maps get hiccups.

    Hello

Thanks for your help. I will try to clear all disturbing elements for the operation of the IGO. Unfortunately, I have to leave the speed cameras and POIs. And I found something like this. After unlocking the larka for Windows CE, after entering the Control Panel-system-memory, there is a slider that probably can be moved. I have a question what can be adjusted with it?

    greetings

    Where to find this DEBUG?

sys.txt in the folder with Igo

And what is this slider in Windows CE memory system for?

Added after 1 [hours] 8 [minutes]:

And is "Out of memory" not due to the low amount of memory on the SD card?

This slider is used to adjust memory, between system and apps, but with 64MB RAM you won't get a miracle. The amount of free space on the memory card has no effect on the error.

Is it possible to increase the Ram in Lark?

    Thanks.
But I have a question. After removing MAP from Lark MAP, will something improve with speed and quality or is it not worth removing it (I do not use it - only SD penalty)?

It will not affect the speed of operation.

    Hello

IGO problem solved with a more powerful navigation device. Once changed, the IGO works like a rocket :)

Thank you for any answers and best regards.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around the "Out of memory" error encountered on the Lark Freebird 43.1 while using the iGO 8.3.4 navigation software in extended skin mode. Users suggest that the device's limited RAM (64MB) is insufficient for the demands of newer maps and features, recommending the removal of non-essential elements like 3D terrain and POIs to alleviate memory strain. Adjustments to the sys.txt file for memory management are also advised. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by upgrading to a more powerful navigation device, which allowed iGO to function effectively.

FAQ

TL;DR: Lark 43.1 has 64 MB RAM; "minimum 128, better 256 MB." Out-of-memory in iGO 8.3.4 appears with heavy skins—trim features or upgrade hardware. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16919851]

Quick Facts

How do I fix "Out of memory" in iGO 8.3.4 on Lark 43.1?

Reduce iGO’s load. Disable 3D terrain, radars, and extra POIs. Leave only *.fbl files in MAPS. Add DEBUG entries cache=2048 and reserve_memory=2000000 in sys.txt. This cuts RAM use and stabilizes routing on long highways. [Elektroda, jajacekpl, post #16919862]

Will switching to the default skin help?

Yes. The default skin without gadgets restored stability for the poster on all routes. Extended skins add UI elements that consume memory. Use the stock skin if you cannot upgrade hardware or trim features. [Elektroda, młody641, post #16919798]

Where do I find sys.txt and the DEBUG section?

Open the iGO installation folder and locate sys.txt. Add or edit the [debug] section to include cache and reserve_memory entries. Save the file and restart iGO. [Elektroda, japycz321, post #16920453]

How do I edit sys.txt to add the DEBUG settings?

  1. Exit iGO and open the iGO folder.
  2. Edit sys.txt; add [debug] with cache=2048 and reserve_memory=2000000.
  3. Save, reboot the device, and test a long route. [Elektroda, jajacekpl, post #16919862]

Does free space on the SD card affect the error?

No. The message relates to device RAM, not storage. "The amount of free space on the memory card has no effect on the error." Keep maps organized, but focus on RAM usage. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16920740]

What does the Windows CE memory slider change?

It reallocates limited RAM between the system and applications. With only 64 MB total, gains are small. Adjusting it cannot substitute for more physical RAM. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16920740]

Can I upgrade RAM in a Lark Freebird 43.1?

No. The RAM is not user‑upgradeable on this device. Hardware limits cap what iGO skins and map features you can run reliably. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16970092]

Will deleting the preloaded Lark MAP speed things up?

No. Removing the bundled Lark MAP does not improve device performance. Keep focus on reducing iGO’s runtime features instead. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16971289]

What map data stresses low‑RAM devices more?

Newer HERE maps can stutter on devices where TomTom maps work. Heavier data increases memory pressure during navigation and rerouting. This is an edge case that appears on 64 MB units. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16919951]

Is 64 MB RAM enough for iGO 8.3.4 with modern maps?

Not for extended skins or rich features. Guidance suggests 128 MB minimum and 256 MB for comfort. That doubles to quadruples headroom versus 64 MB. [Elektroda, koala106, post #16919851]

What is an iGO "skin" and why does it matter here?

A skin changes iGO’s interface and adds gadgets. The extended skin used triggered the error, while the default skin worked. Extra UI elements raise memory usage. [Elektroda, młody641, post #16919798]

Where should I start if I must keep speed cameras and POIs?

Keep essential POIs and cameras, but disable 3D terrain and other extras. Then apply the DEBUG cache and reserve_memory settings to reclaim RAM. Test long routes after each change. [Elektroda, jajacekpl, post #16919862]

What finally solved the problem for the original poster?

Upgrading to a more powerful navigation device. After switching hardware, iGO "works like a rocket," confirming a RAM ceiling on the Lark. [Elektroda, młody641, post #16972945]
