Hello, I bought a Yamaha NS-SW200 active subwoofer today. Everything would be fine if I didn't have a problem with connecting it. In my old subwoofer I connected with an aux audio cable

In this subwoofer, if so connected, only the bass can be heard. I need to buy an AV receiver or something?

Not good, after connecting the sound source to the subwoofer, you only hear the bass. You blew me away with this: V

After all, this is the task of a subwoofer, to reproduce lower frequencies. Not only do you need an AV receiver as well as an AV receiver and speaker system.

I have a loudspeaker set .. When I connect the speakers, I can not hear anything through them, only the bass from the subwoofer. So only the receiver is needed and everything should play?

I am explaining this, in the subwoofer you have a high-level input, if you have a stereo amplifier, you can connect the speaker system through the subwoofer - it will "steal" some signal from the speakers and amplify it. There is no amplifier for the front speakers.

It looks like this graphic from the internet:

With an AV receiver with active subwoofer output you don't need to use the high level inputs at all.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around connecting a Yamaha NS-SW200 active subwoofer. The user initially connected the subwoofer using an aux audio cable but only heard bass. Responses indicate that an AV receiver is necessary for proper audio output, as it allows for the integration of both the subwoofer and speakers. The subwoofer features high-level inputs, which can be utilized if a stereo amplifier is present. However, with an AV receiver that has an active subwoofer output, the high-level inputs are not required. The importance of a receiver for balanced audio reproduction is emphasized throughout the conversation.
