Choosing the Best ANTENA LTE for Huawei B525 Router - T-Mobile Network, Speeds & MIMO 800-2170MHz

Best answers

What external LTE MIMO antenna should I choose for a Huawei B525 on T-Mobile to improve speeds at my location?

Yes, the linked ATK-LOG LTE MIMO 800–2170 antenna should work at around 4.5 km, but the main limitation is the network side rather than the antenna itself [#16951768][#16951773] The LTE800 cell in Staniątki is overloaded, and LTE1800 there is weak, so the suggested setup is to force LTE1800+800 on the B525 and check whether an external antenna actually improves the signal and throughput [#16952550][#16955056] To verify the best target, do an evening speedtest and aim at the BTS where LTE1800+800 aggregation is available; Szarów and Łysokanie were mentioned as the nearest suitable BTSs for that combination [#16955056]

But these are measurements on the phone with NCI, in addition, some strange because RSRP different on the screens. To manage bandwidth on B525, please use http://www.mediafire.com/file/99t05l2dv6vany8/Huawei_Manager_1.1_PL.apk Android phone application, where you log in to B525 at 192.168.8.1. of course, the phone is connected to WiFi with B525. What is the location? You check the LTE1800, LTE800 and LTE2600 bands sequentially. You show screenshots for every speedtest.

LTE800, connection to BTS LTE800 T-Mobile in Staniątki, good signal, low SINR and BTS speeds rather heavily loaded. LTE1800 is BTS Szkolna 1 Niepołomnice, weak signal. speed and so good. Force LTE1800 + 800 at the same time.

Whether thanks to this antenna: http://www.dipol.com.pl/antena_atk-log_lte_10...zewodu_wtyk_sma_mimo_800-2170mhz_A7056_10.htm i

Or maybe it's better to aim at BTS Niepołomice - about 10km? Only then a different antenna?

BTS LTE800 at Staniątki is rather overloaded. For confirmation, make an evening speedtest under it in your direction using LTE phone with the Network Cell info application. Speedtest with optimal signal and DL / UL best illustrate whether the external antenna and signal improvement will help improve speed. In LTE1800 + 800 aggregation, connection with BTS Szarów is the nearest BTS with these two bands. Same in Łysokanie.

I am digging up the topic, if the query is in the wrong topic, please move fashion.

    Router of course H B525

My location is difficult due to the fact that the nearest BTS is covering my school in front of my block.
Despite the short distance (about 500m) to the BTS, it effectively breaks my signal and sometimes causes switching to other BTSs in the city to which I have even more obstructed access.
The BTS antenna cannot be seen from the balcony despite the fact that it can be seen from the parking lot:>
And now the question - will the directional antenna work from such a distance using the reflection from buildings within range?
I would put it on a mast from the balcony going beyond the edge of the building and looking for a signal from the school to the left - after reflection from the buildings marked in yellow.
It makes sense? And if so, what antenna?
Below are data from LTEWatch as well as maps and photos showing the location problem.

    PS
It is not possible to put a mast on the roof, the apartment is temporarily rented for 2 years.

    PS2

Sometimes I catch a signal from other BTS from the city but in any case I have to buy an antenna and "search" for a signal.

OK, I will understand. Thank you.

    Update.

So it's like this, the speed test on a computer's website coincides with what the iOS app shows on your phone.
I just don't know what it connects to in the 2600 band because I can't find this ID number in this BTS or in any BTS in the area.

On LTE2600 it is the same BTS, signal is weak but good speed. In Hmanager, you can force LTE2600 + 1800 or LTE2600 + 800 on the B525 and check how these LTE band aggregations work.

And on what basis do you think it is LTE2600800 and LTE26001800? LTEwatchH does not allow you to choose bands up to 2 CC CA, one thing is sure that LTE2600 is the basic band. No screenshots from HManager does not allow to clearly state which band is additional to LTE2600.

    On vertical -95dB

    Added after 46 [minutes]:

    Stably -97 to -96dB

    I found nothing better

For now, a slight improvement for PLN 300 but thank you :)

We will see ping and download in the evening.
    I have now measured 42Gb and Up22Gb

FAQ

TL;DR: A 2 × 17 dBi directional MIMO antenna can raise a Huawei B525 link from 5 Mb/s to 42 Mb/s; “For aggregation of all LTE bands, use ATK-504” [Elektroda, matek451, post #18150032]

Why it matters: Faster, stable LTE lets you skip costly fixed-line upgrades.

Quick Facts

• ATK-LOG 800-2170 MHz: 6–9 dBi gain, ≤4 km reach, ~€32 [Dipol catalogue]. • ATK-504 1800-2600 MHz: 17 dBi gain, €45/pair [Cybertech store]. • H155 coax loss: ~2.5 dB/5 m or 5 dB/10 m at 2.6 GHz [Anonymous, #19117154]. • Huawei Manager app lets you force bands on B525 via Wi-Fi login [Elektroda, matek451, post #16951817] • Huawei B818 router: 4×4 MIMO, 4-band CA, peak 1.6 Gb/s [Huawei datasheet].

Which external antenna pairs best with the Huawei B525 on 1800 + 2600 MHz?

The 2× ATK-504 (17 dBi, 1800-2600 MHz) gives the highest gain while matching the router’s MIMO ports. Users saw download climb from 13.8 Mb/s to 42 Mb/s after fitting it [Elektroda, robcook, #18162992; trus007, #19090921].

How far can an ATK-LOG 800-2170 MHz work reliably?

With 6–9 dBi gain it covers roughly 2–5 km line-of-sight. At 4.5 km a user maintained a stable LTE800 link on T-Mobile [Elektroda, robcook, post #16951768] Beyond 5 km speeds fall sharply if foliage or terrain blocks the path.

Does cable length really hurt speed?

Yes. H155 coax loses about 2.5 dB over 5 m and 5 dB over 10 m at 2.6 GHz [Anonymous, #19117154]. Each 3 dB drop halves received power, which can shave 10–20 % off throughput.

How do I lock bands on a Huawei B525 or B535?

  1. Install Huawei Manager (Android) or LTEWatch (Windows). 2. Connect to the router’s Wi-Fi and log in (192.168.8.1). 3. In “Frequency band” tap + and tick desired bands, then apply [Elektroda, matek451, post #18146055]

Will a high-gain antenna fix an overloaded BTS?

No. Better signal cannot create capacity. A user reached −79 dBm yet still saw 5 Mb/s because LTE800 was saturated [Elektroda, matek451, post #16952550] Edge case: speeds may even drop if the router latches faster onto the crowded cell.

Is signal reflection viable at 500 m when the tower is behind a building?

Yes, if nearby walls are metal or glass. A poster at 0.5 km planned to mount a directional antenna and capture reflected paths; the expert advised testing before drilling [Elektroda, matek451, post #18146022] Expect 3–6 dB extra loss and unstable RSRQ.

Should I upgrade from B525 to ZTE MF286R or Huawei B818?

Stick with B525 if you only need 2-band CA. Move to MF286R for 3-band CA at lower cost. Choose B818 for 4-band CA and 4×4 MIMO; users saw uplink jump from 6 Mb/s to 22 Mb/s after swapping [Elektroda, trus007, #19088492; szamik21, #19116308].

What antenna polarization and spacing give best MIMO gain?

Mount the two elements in X-cross (±45°) or vertical/horizontal as pictured in the vendor photo [Elektroda, matek451, post #18162950] Keep at least 30 cm between booms to reduce coupling.

How can I quickly test if LTE2600 is available before buying hardware?

Place the router outside, lock LTE2600 only and watch RSRP. If it never registers, the band is absent or too weak [Elektroda, matek451, post #19106881] Repeat at different heights and windows for certainty.

Why does my router prefer a farther cell?

Cells broadcast priority. The closer BTS may have narrower bandwidth and heavier load, so the device sticks to the stronger scheduling of the distant site [Elektroda, jarek7714, post #19131296]

3-step: How do I aim a directional LTE antenna?

  1. Mount loosely and connect router. 2. Use Huawei Manager’s live RSRP/SINR read-out; rotate in 10° steps. 3. Lock the bracket at the highest SINR, then tighten bolts. Total time: ~15 minutes [Elektroda, rob cook & matek451 posts].
