In a Word 2007 document, I want to set the mirror margins from a specific page - the 10th, more accurately. It is a master's thesis, which should be printed on both sides, omitting the first 9 pages (title pages, attachments, table of contents, etc.) - these are to be printed normally. Now, in order to do this, in the last line of the 9th page, I insert the division of the "next page", the cursor (with the flashing vertical line) to the first line of the 10th page, and in the paragraph or page layout settings I choose "mirror" and I use for "this section". The effect is that the mirror margins appear throughout the document ... Why? What am I doing wrong? I will add that I also tried to set the mirror margins "for the selected text" and "from the current place" - no difference, the same thing happens, and the frustration is endless.

I would try to insert a section break at the beginning of the 10th page and then combine it with the margin settings in the sections.

Prejudice the question about how to insert a section break:

Thanks for the answer, but I know how to insert the section division itself - after all, I wrote that I was doing it. However, when it comes to the place where it is inserted, regardless of which line it is, the effect is the same - mirroring margins in the whole document. The program behaves as if this division has not seen it at all (although after clicking the "pi" option, it is there). The worst thing is that everything comes down - I suspect - to one or two clicks ... In addition, I remember that in the file with my bachelor I also fought with it, but I did it. The fact that this file is strange, because the word numbering (the one on the bottom bar of the program) is inflated, but the margins are working. I thought it might be a problem with the editor itself and I ran the diagnostic package - it did not detect anything. I also tried to set these margins on another computer with Offic 2010 - the same (but I have the certainty that everything is fine with my program). Now, in turn, I tried to set the horizontal orientation of pages for this one section and works - pages 1-9 become vertical, and those from 10 are already horizontal ... At least weird.

Divide the text into two sections. In the first section, set the usual margins with the larger margin on the left (for binding). In the second section set the normal margins with the fact that the left margin is a component of two margins (left margin + binding margin)
    Example:
in the first section - Left 2 cm, Right 1 cm,
in the second section - Left 1 cm, For the 1 cm binding, Right 1 cm.
Settings as standard and not mirrored.
Be careful that changing the margins may change the page numbering.

With all due respect, but I do not really understand. What will it give me? I will still have the same margins throughout the document.

You tried? Do not try it. This setting will give you what I understood from your text. The first 9 pages will have a larger margin on the left (one-sided printing) and from the 10th page the margin will be on the left side and the second will be on the right side for double-sided printing).
I'm sorry I did not add that the page layout should be marked "Other headers and footers on even and odd pages."

Could you send me an old bachelor file? I would remove my settings first, and you would set everything as you describe it. Later, I would transfer my master's settings analogically (I would not like it to leak somewhere, because it has not been checked by the anti-plagiarism system - that's why I would send you a bachelor's degree).

Topic summary

In a Word 2007 document, the user seeks to set mirror margins starting from the 10th page of a master's thesis, while the first nine pages are to have standard margins. Despite inserting a section break at the beginning of the 10th page and adjusting the margin settings, the user experiences the issue of mirror margins applying to the entire document. Responses suggest ensuring the correct section breaks are in place and adjusting margin settings for each section separately. One proposed solution involves setting different margin configurations for the first and second sections, with specific attention to binding margins and header/footer settings for odd and even pages. The user expresses confusion over the proposed solutions and seeks further clarification.
