I'm going to buy an Opel Astra G used with medium mileage. Which engine version do you recommend and what faults I will be exposed to. I would like to know as much as possible about this car. Thanks in advance
It would be good if it was equipped with air-conditioning, look for velor seats because the original ones are mega stools, the rust eats the rear wheel arches, check when you buy whether it is leaking from the simering on the flywheel, - connecting the engine with the gearbox. 1.7dti burn little, under LPG 1.6 75KM 1.6 84 KM, 1.8 125KM.
I drive 2 years with 2.0dti 101 YDTH, I had absolutely no problems with the engine. When you change from 1.9 tdi you can feel the difference that some of the higher revolutions are collected. It takes a little more oil than usual, but these are old cars, so ... my mileage is 238,000. Overall, I consider it to be one of the best cars in the 3-5k price range, but maybe it's also a matter of taste.
It's easy enough to buy, let it stay warm for 5 minutes at idle speed, then take a ride, spinning up to 5000 rpm in each gear, if it leaves a cloud of smoke, release the timing or other parts immediately.
Also, notice that the engine and cooling controls are not lit because these are all hybrid engine computers.
