Can I get 75 Hz at 1920×1080 over HDMI or DVI on these Iiyama monitors, and is it worth paying extra for the version with DisplayPort?

Yes — for this monitor, 75 Hz can work over HDMI, and in the thread it was confirmed to work after connecting via HDMI and enabling the FreeSync option in the monitor settings [#17068417][#17068511] The monitor manual is cited as saying it should support 75 Hz in Full HD, so there is no inherent need to pay extra just for DisplayPort if you only want 1920×1080 at 75 Hz [#17068485] One user also noted that, at these settings, the two monitors differ mainly in appearance and you would not really use the DisplayPort advantage anyway [#17065466] If you still see only 60 Hz in Windows or the driver, check the monitor’s FreeSync setting and the GPU/display settings, since the card/driver may need the mode enabled manually [#17068417][#17067996]

I am considering buying a Iiyama 24.5 "G-Master Black Hawk G2530HSU-B1 monitor for PLN 670 or Iiyama 24" G-Master Black Hawk GE2488HS-B2 for PLN 600. The first has a DP connector, the second only has DVI and HDMI. Both are at a refresh rate of 75hz at 1920x1080 resolution.
A friend scared me that with HDMI at this resolution I would have a maximum refresh rate of 60. And here my questions arise:

-It is better to pay extra PLN 70 and take the first monitor or stay with the second one?
    - Will the monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution connected with an HDMI / DVI cable start to lose frames or will there be any inconvenience (as my colleague observed), or will everything be fine and there will be 75 of them?
-If I decide to use a second monitor, is it better to connect it with an HDMI or DVI cable?
    - Is the difference between connecting with HDMI / DVI cable and DP cable noticeable?

with HDmi is right up to 60hz, but there will be no problem because DVI will handle up to 144hz
The display port will allow more than 144. So generally you buy the monitor you want and on the DVI cable you have 75hz.

Well, a stone from the heart ... And among those 2 monitors that seems to be more interesting? Or maybe some other proposal in this price range?

szczeże? for me they differ only in the appearance of the screen because you will still use 75hz and 1920x1080 so you will not use the displayport.

Dzwine, the manufacturer states that the refresh rate is to be 75hz in full hd, now I'm wondering what's going on, how to solve the problem, write what helped.

See if you have the same in both DVI sockets.

If so, it turns out that you may not get more than 60 frames because you have a poor card.
    Especially in demanding games.

What does it have to do with how many frames it can get? there is no option to choose at a native resolution of 75 only 60, e.g. in such a cs it will get calmly 200 by the way.

This is not a weak card, but different with the actual number of frames the card will get, and differently with setting their maximum value.
Could there be a poor quality cable fault?

Do you have HDMI cable on hand to check?

I have read a little more about this monitor and you can still see if the FreeSync option is on the monitor menu.

Also try to see in the NVidia panel -> Adjust the size and position of the desktop.

link Here they write that 75Hz with the FreeSync option only via HDMI.

    And everything is clear.

    Manufacturer's operating instructions, page 29:

Best Monitor Cable for Iiyama G-Master Black Hawk G2530HSU-B1 & GE2488HS-B2: HDMI, DVI or DP?

And the latter has something like this:
Best Monitor Cable for Iiyama G-Master Black Hawk G2530HSU-B1 & GE2488HS-B2: HDMI, DVI or DP?

So it should have 75Hz without a problem.

If you can try to exchange with an extra charge as you need these 75Hz. [/ Img]

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around the choice between two Iiyama G-Master Black Hawk monitors: the G2530HSU-B1 with a DisplayPort (DP) connector and the GE2488HS-B2 with HDMI and DVI connectors. Users express concerns about refresh rates, specifically whether HDMI would limit the refresh rate to 60Hz at 1920x1080 resolution, while DVI can support up to 144Hz. It is noted that the G2530HSU-B1 is preferred for its DP capability, but users confirm that both monitors can achieve 75Hz refresh rates when configured correctly. Issues with achieving the desired refresh rate are discussed, including potential graphics card limitations and the importance of cable quality. The conversation concludes with a user successfully enabling 75Hz via HDMI after adjusting settings and confirming FreeSync functionality.

FAQ

TL;DR: 1080p at 75 Hz works on GE2488HS‑B2 via HDMI; "Enabling the freesync option in the monitor settings" makes 75 selectable. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068517]

Why it matters: Owners of Iiyama G‑Master GE2488HS‑B2/G2530HSU‑B1 need a quick, reliable way to hit 75 Hz and choose the right cable.

Quick Facts

What’s the best cable for Iiyama GE2488HS‑B2 to get 1080p 75 Hz?

Use HDMI and enable FreeSync in the monitor’s OSD. That unlocks a selectable 75 Hz mode at 1920×1080. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068517]

Does HDMI cap me at 60 Hz on these Iiyamas?

No. On GE2488HS‑B2, HDMI with FreeSync enabled revealed a 75 Hz setting. The user switched to HDMI and confirmed 75 Hz. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068511]

Is it worth paying extra for the G2530HSU‑B1 just for DisplayPort?

If you only need 1080p at 75 Hz, DisplayPort adds little. “You will still use 75hz and 1920x1080 so you will not use the displayport.” [Elektroda, Send1N, post #17065466]

DVI shows only 60 Hz at 1920×1080—how do I fix it?

Switch to HDMI and enable FreeSync in the monitor menu. That immediately exposed 75 Hz for the same display. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068511]

Where do I enable FreeSync on the GE2488HS‑B2?

Open the monitor’s on‑screen display and toggle FreeSync to On. The OP said enabling it made 75 Hz work. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068517]

Will FreeSync help on Nvidia GPUs like GTX 780?

You can still enable the monitor’s FreeSync option over HDMI and select 75 Hz. The poster had Nvidia and showed 75 Hz present. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068461]

How do I force 75 Hz if Windows only shows 60 Hz?

Use your GPU driver panel. 1. Open Nvidia Control Panel or similar. 2. Create/select 1920×1080 at 75 Hz. 3. Apply and test. “You can force 75 Hz in the program settings from the graphics driver.” [Elektroda, icosie, post #17067996]

I have two DVI ports—should I try the other one?

Yes. Check both DVI sockets to compare behavior. Some setups present identical limits on both ports. [Elektroda, icosie, post #17068367]

Is DisplayPort better than HDMI or DVI for 1080p 75 Hz?

For higher refresh headroom, DP helps. As one helper put it, “The display port will allow more than 144.” [Elektroda, Send1N, post #17064344]

Will I lose frames using HDMI at 1080p?

No. Once FreeSync is enabled on GE2488HS‑B2, HDMI presents and runs at 75 Hz without frame loss. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068511]

HDMI still shows 60 Hz—what else should I check?

Verify the FreeSync toggle appears in the monitor OSD. It shows only when connected via HDMI. If absent, reseat or try another HDMI port/cable. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068461]

Which should I buy: GE2488HS‑B2 or G2530HSU‑B1?

Both target 1080p/75 Hz. If you only use 75 Hz, you “will not use the displayport,” so pick on price and looks. [Elektroda, Send1N, post #17065466]

Can game FPS exceed my 75 Hz refresh rate?

Yes, your GPU can render more than 75 FPS, but the screen shows 75 Hz. One member noted “in such a cs it will get calmly 200.” [Elektroda, Send1N, post #17068371]

How can I confirm 75 Hz is active?

Open Windows advanced display settings or your GPU panel and check the refresh list. The OP’s screenshots showed 60 versus 75 options. [Elektroda, humbas, post #17068058]
