Washer Dryer: Siemens WD15H542EU iQ800 vs Samsung AddWash WD80K5A10OX - Reliability & Quality

Which washer-dryer is more reliable and has better washing and drying quality: Siemens WD15H542EU iQ800 or Samsung AddWash WD80K5A10OX, or should I choose another model?

The thread generally recommends skipping both the Siemens and the Samsung and choosing a Bosch or Miele washer-dryer instead [#17160166][#17205627][#17314590] The strongest negative report is about a Samsung washer-dryer whose dryer heater failed after about 2 years, with repair quoted at around PLN 1000, and its drying was described as only average [#17162870] Bosch models such as the WVG30460P/WVG30460PL and WVG30441EU got the best feedback, with one user saying they were 100% satisfied after two months and another reporting that washing and drying were a revelation [#17205627][#17314590] One long-term user said drying works well, but intensive drying can wear clothes, so a gentler “closet” program is better; the spin is strong enough that laundry comes out only slightly damp [#17859997] Also check the load ratings, because some washer-dryers wash more than they can dry, for example 7 kg for washing but only 3.5 kg for drying [#17162887]

I want to buy a washer dryer. Prejudice the questions - one hybrid device and not two separate ones (space in the apartment).
    I'm thinking about the models:
Siemens WD15H542EU iQ800, the second choice is Samsung AddWash WD80K5A10OX.
Does anyone have any experience with these devices? What is their reliability, the quality of washing and, above all, drying?
Maybe it is worth investing in a different brand / model?
The budget is about 3000 PLN.

PS: I saw that Siemens was in the archive of topics, but the information was not too much. In addition, someone can recommend some other model.

After consultation in the shop, I think I am closer to some Bosha model. The seller, however, pointed out that the washer dryer is characterized by very high failure rate and advised against such purchase. Is it really the rule that such equipment is constantly spoiling? As a standard, the guarantee is 2 years with the possibility of extending to 5 (although for a relatively large surcharge), which seems to be a short period of time.

That maybe I will write because from 2013 since September I have a Samsung washer dryer, some higher model, I gave it almost 5000 PLN for it. During the warranty period, she washed and dried, washing after drying stiff and very hot, rather for ironing. after 2 years, and more precisely in November 2015, the dryer fell, more precisely there was a heater which repair costs about PLN 1000. If it was not for the fact that I was satisfied with drying on average, maybe I could fix it, but I decided that it would be better to buy a dryer standing in a room for PLN 100 and dry there, so I've dried for over 2 years.

Check how much it enters the drum during washing and how much during the spin. When I was choosing the current washing machine, Bosch had 7 kg for washing, but only 3.5 kg for drying.
Personally, I have been using Hotpoint products for over a dozen years. Cheap, but they work for about 5 years.
Currently, I use the built-in model BHWDD74, which works without failure for 3 years. And the children turned him into an Apple product.

I live in Scotland and the weather does not encourage drying in the garden, so the washing machine dries very often.

Well, as I read about these frequent defects, expensive repairs and the fact that during such a repair you do not have a washing machine it discourages you a bit. Therefore, reliability must be placed in the first place. The question is whether it is possible in the case of a washer dryer ...

The question is whether to buy used. Despite the assurances of the seller, "detailed tests" have been done, you can never be sure what the condition is. Especially that from what I read, these types of devices wear out quite quickly. And the warranty then is also symbolic, max probably half a year. Used Miele for 2-3k.

A drug - not worth it.
In addition, many things break down. For example, the handle for opening the drum. The new one costs money (in PLN 100) for a piece of plastic. The heater came out cheaper.
At one time, washing machines with a gentle, protruding knob for programming the washing machine were fashionable. Some large head came up with it. The knob is at the average level d..yi at the moment of inattention is on the knob. And how many things can be drunk there - for example a rinse liquid spilled on a washing machine. And the warranty does not cover these items.
A flat washer, preferably still in the built-up, will serve longer than the equipment to be blasted.
And do not be deceived, there are no "for life" equipment anymore. Companies that did not remember about it are being banked, such as the GO-Pro equipment manufacturer

I have read a lot, actually there is no "best" choice. I opted for BOSHA, the model BOSCH WVG30460P mentioned here. It gives you another 3 days to compare with other models of this company and the final decision, but I will probably choose this series.
I am also considering the WVG30441EU model.

And, however, I stay at the washer-dryer, unfortunately 2 devices are not an option, and I want to have a dryer.

After two months I can write that I am 100% satisfied with the choice - washing and drying revelation. We'll see what will happen when (when) some problems appear.

And what is the price for operations? What are the costs of one wash and drying? Is drying efficient? Things really dried up?

I will reply with a considerable delay, but I have not been here for a long time.
Things well dried, but after some time I gave up the intensive drying, because unfortunately it destroys the material - clothes a bit as if they are spreading, after many drying.
I started using lighter drying, a "closet" program, clothes that are slightly damp, but folded and hidden into the wardrobe, keep fresh and quickly "dry up". I note that they are not wet, only slightly moist, as if they are sprayed with water for ironing.
In addition, the spin is so good that even after ordinary washing clothes are not soaked with water.

As for the costs, unfortunately I am unable to answer. Amazingly, the power consumption over the months has not changed at all (2 people). Maybe it's just that we're less at home every day? In any case, the use of a washer dryer is not noticeable in the home budget.

In my humble opinion, an electric dryer is an unnecessary expense. I have a standing, fold-out, with two wings. It is very practical, and I bought it at a promotional price on wasserman.eu

    Hello
I will also connect to the topic. I have a question, are there a washer dryer with removable countertop? The point is that the height of the device should be max 82cm. Most are 84.5 or 85 cm. Thank you for your answer.

Check the built-in device. They are smaller so that they enter the cabinet under the countertop.

FAQ

TL;DR: 7 kg wash vs 3.5 kg dry matters—"Bosch had 7 kg for washing, but only 3.5 kg for drying." Choose combos for space, expect drying trade‑offs, and plan half‑loads for dry cycles. [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17162887]

Why it matters: For apartment shoppers comparing Siemens iQ800 WD15H542EU, Samsung AddWash WD80K5A10OX, or Bosch combos on ~3000 PLN budgets, this FAQ condenses real owner results and fit tips.

Quick Facts

Are washer-dryer combos reliable, or do they fail more than separate machines?

Reliability varies by model and use. One owner’s Samsung combo lost drying after two years; the heater failed. Repair was about PLN 1000, which discouraged fixing. He also found clothes “stiff and very hot” after drying and switched to a room rack. Consider warranty and service access. “The dryer fell... repair costs about PLN 1000.” [Elektroda, WSRH, post #17162870]

How much laundry can I dry vs wash in a combo?

Plan to dry about half the washing capacity. Example from a Bosch: 7 kg for washing, 3.5 kg for drying. That mismatch is typical, so either split loads or remove items before starting the dry phase. “Bosch had 7 kg for washing, but only 3.5 kg for drying.” [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17162887]

Do intense drying cycles damage clothes?

Yes, repeated intensive cycles can degrade fibers. A Bosch owner saw fabric stretch and switched to a gentler “closet” program. That setting leaves items slightly damp, but they finish drying folded in the wardrobe while staying fresh.
  1. Select Closet/wardrobe‑dry instead of Intensive.
  2. Stop overdrying; remove items when warm, not hot.
  3. Fold and store to finish drying. “Intensive drying... destroys the material.” [Elektroda, ice29, post #17859997]

What are the real operating costs per wash-and-dry?

Owner-reported: In a two-person household, monthly electricity spend did not change noticeably. That was while using a combo with closet‑dry settings. That implies moderate consumption when avoiding the hottest drying. “The use of a washer dryer is not noticeable in the home budget.” [Elektroda, ice29, post #17859997]

Which model did forum users end up choosing; is it good?

The original poster chose a Bosch washer‑dryer from that series and reported complete satisfaction after two months. They called both washing and drying “revelation.” Owner sentiment is a useful data point if you want a balanced one‑box solution. “I am 100% satisfied with the choice.” [Elektroda, ice29, post #17314590]

Is buying a used Miele washer-dryer a good idea?

Caution is wise. Another member advised against second‑hand combos due to hidden wear and costly parts. Even small items like door handles can be pricey, and warranties are minimal. A blunt take: “A drug - not worth it... there are no ‘for life’ equipment anymore.” If you must, inspect carefully and budget for repairs. [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17163513]

Can I fit a washer-dryer under an 82 cm countertop or remove the top?

Look at built‑in (integrated) washer‑dryers. They are sized to slide under kitchen counters and fit inside cabinets. That solves height constraints without removing tops on freestanding units. For tight spaces, start your search in integrated ranges. “Check the built‑in device. They are smaller...” [Elektroda, sanfran, post #18290910]

Are there compact washer-dryers under 47 cm depth?

Options are limited in freestanding units. Integrated models exist specifically to fit cabinetry, so they are typically shallower. Measure your niche and compare manufacturer drawings before purchase. The forum’s advice: focus on built‑ins when space is tight. “They are smaller so that they enter the cabinet under the countertop.” [Elektroda, sanfran, post #18290910]

Why do clothes come out hot and stiff after drying in my combo?

Condensing dryers in combo units can run hot and overdry, especially on intensive programs. One Samsung owner reported garments “stiff and very hot,” better suited to ironing. If that happens, choose a gentler dryness level and reduce load size. Consider air‑drying delicates. “Washing after drying stiff and very hot, rather for ironing.” [Elektroda, WSRH, post #17162870]

Does a fast spin reduce drying time meaningfully?

Yes. Strong spin extraction leaves laundry far less wet before drying. That shortens or even removes the need for long dry cycles. An owner noted clothes were not soaked after washing thanks to good spin performance. Use the highest safe spin for your fabrics. “The spin is so good that... clothes are not soaked with water.” [Elektroda, ice29, post #17859997]

Which brands were recommended over Siemens or Samsung here?

One member favored Bosch and Miele for long‑running designs and support, and even listed specific models. They discouraged choosing Siemens in their view. Always cross‑check current models and service coverage in your area. “I can recommend... bosch miele... Washer dryer BOSCH WVG 30460PL.” [Elektroda, BartasLeszno, post #17160166]

Where is the Bosch washer-dryer made?

This thread did not confirm a country of origin. To verify yours, check the rating plate on the door frame or rear panel, or ask the retailer. The question appeared here but remained unanswered. [Elektroda, kszy04, post #18146895]

Is a simple drying rack a better option than electric drying?

If time and space allow, a fold‑out rack is a cheap, practical alternative. One member skipped electric drying and stayed happy with a two‑wing standing rack. This approach avoids heat wear on fabrics and energy use. “An electric dryer is an unnecessary expense.” [Elektroda, MariiMarina, post #18236277]
