Hello everyone, I would like to ask how to disinfect the water after winter, the smell of sludge after 3 hours of pumping smells hardly noticeable, but I should carry out this procedure at least once a year. I can't find on the net how to do this and how much to add sodium hypochlorite and what to do next. Well from 2017, 125mm water surface at 14m and 32m deep.
I am asking for help from professionals or people who have had experience in this matter, thank you in advance

I am a theoretician, and I finished water technology about 20 years ago, but what I remember is that there is a problem with drills at home. Generally they are cleaned by intensive pumping. As for disinfection, the solution would be suitable to be administered under pressure. At home, you pour a disinfecting solution (mainly sodium hypochlorite, although there are now some preparations based on hydrogen peroxide and silver ions, probably such a fashion) prepared according to the instructions and turn on the taps, etc., until you smell chlorine, then turn off. Then a 24h break and intensive rinsing. It is appropriate to make the microbiological purity of water in the Sanepid or other laboratory to make sure that the treatment does not need to be repeated.

I will probably use sodium hypochlorite, so when I pour it into the well, I unscrew all the collection points until I feel chlorine and turn off, and the next day I do a few hours of pumping with all the outlets at the same time - this is what I understood, please confirm, a good tip also for other people who have wells.

You understood well, buddy. If anything, you can get hypochlorite in "Chemia" on Cobowa Street, they sell by kilograms, if you take your container it will be cheaper.

Exactly right, check the water in some lab. There can be several reasons for this smell of mud. By the way, when you have little children, check nitrates.

Chloramine is used to disinfect water in deep wells, a bucket is poured into the well and after three days it is pumped out.

Topic summary

To disinfect a deep well after winter, sodium hypochlorite is commonly used. The procedure involves adding the disinfectant solution under pressure, then running taps until a chlorine smell is detected. After a 24-hour period, intensive pumping should be conducted to flush the system. It's recommended to test the water for microbiological purity at a laboratory to ensure the disinfection was effective. Other potential solutions mentioned include chloramine and alternative disinfectants based on hydrogen peroxide and silver ions. Users are advised to check for additional issues such as nitrates, especially if there are children in the household.
