Hello. I have a Briggs Stratton 500e 140cc mower. Since I bought it used a year ago, the engine runs slightly rough. I decided to replace the air filter tomorrow (because it looks like in the photo) and I will give new oil and candles :) can all these things buy oem B&S, do some replacements also do the trick? Is it possible that this operation will eliminate this uneven work? Or maybe it would be appropriate to clean, for example, the carburetor? for China, I do not know how to go about the carburetor, because I have never dealt with it in mowers. does anyone have a video how to do it? Or maybe someone else has some advice?

    Hello

First of all, clean the filter mechanically, then wash it (degrease) it thoroughly with some detergent. See if the automatic speed control springs are clean and slightly tight.
As for oil, SAE 30 oils are used for this type of engines.
Such oils are produced by ORLEN and LOTOS. One is the Green Garden and the other is Travol. They cost much cheaper and have comparable parameters to oils branded by Briggs.

    best regards

I did not write before installing the filter, gently soak it with oil, it can be engine oil.

It would be nice if you showed these springs in the photo :) because I'm green, I'm completely in the mowers

@ Showbiz32 You've got the carburetor here from 7:45 am. I recommend watching the whole thing. Best regards.

https://youtu.be/K0MlLPmoryY?t=14m12s Where will I get this spring? Maybe she is responsible for the waves for me? I tried to bend it, and shorten it, and it seems to be better, but too fast turns :) Anyone have a link to it?

and there is no fuel filter

There is, after unscrewing the carburetor from the fuel tank, there is a very fine mesh (arrow) on the suction pipe, which can also get clogged.

And when it comes to undulating rotation in this type of engine / carburetor, a worn, stretched carburetor membrane is often responsible.

And when disassembling to replace the membrane, you can also clean this filter / mesh because everything will be "on top".

@ wojtek1234321 in the older ones it was as you write, in the newer ones with the letter e at the end there is neither a membrane nor a filter, the fuel flows down to the carburetor by gravity. The durability and quality of the materials used to manufacture the engine also dropped dramatically. You can see it in the video above during engine dismantling.

Well, maybe so, but I was influenced by post # 6, I thought it was about this engine, that it was a post from the founder of the topic. It is like not reading the whole topic. Sorry for the confusion.
