Hello. I have a problem with my Golf 2.0 tdi 2006. While driving, it can fall asleep as if there is no fuel, and then it fires up. But I don't smoke when touched, I just have to shoot for a long time. I already replaced the fuel pump and it did not work. I would like to add that it is ok with a full tank, it starts to go out only when the fuel level drops to half. Has anyone had a similar problem or at least knows where to look for the fault? I will be grateful for any hint. Greetings.

And you checked the injection pump controller in cold February and whether VAG shows errors.

VAG shows no errors and I have not checked the driver. Could you explain to me where it is and how to check it? There is one more thing that I forgot to write about. When the first time the car went out while driving, I started with replacing the fuel filter. After unscrewing the housing from the filter, it turned out that there was no fuel in it. After pouring the fuel directly into the filter, the car fired and then, after the fuel was burnt out of the filter, it went out. I did this several times and finally the car stopped going out, as if the fuel started to reach the filter.

If you have a clean fuel tank, ie without sediment, sludge, etc. and the pump dragon is "not killed", in my opinion look for a leak in the fuel rail. Check all connections to and from the fuel filter. You yourself stated that at one point you had an empty fuel filter. If you have transparent fuel lines near the filter, you can see no fuel or air bubbles through them.

Maybe try to replace the vials at the fuel filter, according to the diagram I found on the internet it should be like this:
    1: fuel tank powered
    2: back to the tank
3: filter outlet for tandem pump supply
    4: tandem pump return

For me, the fuel started to flow from hose No. 2 after turning the ignition and according to the diagram it should go from hose No. 1.
Is it better to turn the vics into a fuel pump?

I changed the vials to the pump and indeed, after turning on the ignition, the fuel flew from the proper hose by the filter. I will travel a few days and come back to the topic to write or divide. Best regards and thank you for the hints.

Replacing the hoses on the pump helped. Topic is closed.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2006 Golf 2.0 TDI experiencing intermittent shutdowns while driving, particularly when the fuel level drops below half. The owner initially replaced the fuel pump and filter but continued to face issues. Suggestions included checking the injection pump controller and inspecting for leaks in the fuel rail and connections. The owner discovered that the fuel filter was empty at times and, after pouring fuel directly into it, the car would restart. Eventually, replacing the hoses on the fuel pump resolved the issue, leading to proper fuel flow and the closure of the topic.
