    Hello
I need help. At the beginning of September I bought a Samsung No Frost RB29FSRNDSS refrigerator. The refrigerator is very loud, it makes humming and whistling sounds. Sometimes it's much louder. It has been leveled, the temperature is set correctly. I disconnected it for a while and reconnected it. Result - it's been working for over an hour (fan and aggregate - I guess that's what it's called professionally). Please advise what to do, because I'm going crazy, especially since I share a room with this beast (a room with a kitchenette).

Refrigerator purchased at Neonet with home delivery. Today a service technician came and replaced the compressor, but he did not wait for the fridge to jump to 3 "gear". It turned out to work even louder than before. I have located this noise, it is at the back of the refrigerator, in the built-up part, i.e. it is above the open space where the compressor etc. Sorry, but I am a woman and some terms are unfamiliar to me. I will add that the fridge turns on very often, on average, every 15-20 minutes and works for 1.5-2 hours and again the interval of 15-29 minutes and the same. Help me please, because I'm going crazy.

Crazy Samsung inverter what can I say. Probably a refrigerator with a manufacturing defect. Once it happened to me in a friend's new fridge that the compressor fan had a bent mount and the propeller was hitting the tube. Tired of the service, it's new and the inverter should be very quiet.. :P

Take that crap back to the store. There are really more attractive brands on the market.

I can make a return within 14 days of purchase, and I bought the refrigerator on September 3, so I guess it's out.

    Good day.
Can you tell me what the problem with the fridge looks like, did you solve this problem somehow? I have a built-in fridge with an inverter motor and the service replaced my generator today, but the fridge is still very loud.

    Thank you for your response.

I have the same case after replacing the unit, which was very loud from the new, the fridge is loud, it is audible as if the unit was not moving the factor but air. To my prompts on the Samsung hotline, the answer is "yes, these fridges must be like that" although the hotline staff did not even hear how my fridge works. It is very hard to ask a Samsung serviceman to the fridge to assess what is going on.

I confirm, the Samsung RS68N8220B1 series is very quiet, as is the RZ80FHIS freezer. This is the gap between a no frost fridge and an outdated ordinary chiller. Torment the service.

Can you tell me how the matter of your refrigerator was resolved because I have been fighting with Samsung for 3 months for a service technician and I can't ask for it all the time. Samsung maintains that this is how the refrigerator works.

Good morning, I would like to warn against supporting Samsung and thus buying their products. On 09.07.20 I bought a RB29FERNDSA refrigerator, which was very noisy from the very beginning. At first, I couldn't get a repair report to be issued. When it worked, the service technician misled me that this is how these refrigerators work. Description of the damage - "The sound of the equipment during operation is correct, you can hear the injection of refrigerant into the evaporator" is the assessment of the service technician from Bydgoszcz.
Curious about how the same model works, on August 31, 2020 I bought another refrigerator, this time for my in-laws. Their fridge works fine. I contacted the owner of the service (AGD FUH ZUZANNA) from Bydgoszcz, describing how the service technician misled me by claiming that the noise I was hearing was correct. I received a reply that I should report again and will send another service technician. The Samsung store hotline did not want to issue another order. After describing the situation on the Samsung forum, I received links to report. In response to an e-mail notification via the form, one of the persons servicing, among others, this forum (JolaŁ) replies:
"Thank you for contacting the Samsung Customer Care Center.
Thank you for the recording. After listening to it, we can confirm the correct operation of the equipment.
If the refrigerator does not cool and freeze properly, there is no reason to worry and call the service again."
The conclusion is that if the fridge cools, freezes and the light is on, everything is OK!

FAQ

TL;DR: Two units of the same Samsung model behaved differently; one was noisy. A technician said, "The sound of the equipment during operation is correct." This FAQ helps RB29 No Frost owners fix abnormal noise and navigate service or returns. [Elektroda, miet55, post #18891381]

Why it matters: It guides you to separate normal No Frost sounds from fixable faults and get action from service fast.

Quick Facts

Is loud humming and whistling normal on a Samsung RB29 No Frost?

Some No Frost sounds are normal, but persistent loud humming or whistling is not. One owner proved this by buying the same model again; the second ran quietly. If your unit is abnormally loud, record it and request a second opinion. Reference the quiet comparator. [Elektroda, miet55, post #18891381]

Are 1.5–2 hour run cycles with 15–20 minute pauses acceptable?

Longer cycles can occur during cooling recovery or defrost, but a repeating 1.5–2 hour run with frequent pauses plus loud noise indicates a fault. Document the pattern for service. Share timestamps and environment details to speed diagnosis. Abnormal cycling paired with noise deserves an in‑person inspection. [Elektroda, Kaśśśka, post #17465114]

What noises are actually normal in No Frost fridges?

Whooshing, gentle gurgling, and brief refrigerant injection sounds can be normal. A technician described hearing refrigerant injection into the evaporator as acceptable during operation. Still, excessive volume or metallic scraping is not normal. Compare to a known‑good sample if possible. [Elektroda, miet55, post #18891381]

Where is the likely source if the noise is above the compressor area?

Noise localized in the built-up rear section above the compressor cavity points to the evaporator fan, vibrating tubing, or panel resonance. Ask service to inspect the fan shroud, mounts, and any lines contacting plastic or metal. Re‑secure or space components as needed. [Elektroda, Kaśśśka, post #17465114]

Should an inverter Samsung fridge be very quiet?

Yes. An experienced user summarized it clearly: “The inverter should be very quiet.” If your inverter unit is loudly humming, that’s a red flag. Push for a careful check of the fan, mounts, and refrigerant line routing around the evaporator area. [Elektroda, abuhamza, post #17465518]

Can a bent fan or mount cause loud noises?

Yes. A known failure is a fan with a bent mount, causing the propeller to hit a tube. That creates rhythmic scraping or droning. Ask the technician to inspect the fan blade, bracket, and clearances and to correct interference or replace the assembly. [Elektroda, abuhamza, post #17465518]

Service replaced my compressor and it’s louder. What now?

Escalate. Request verification of fan alignment, vibration isolators, tubing contact points, and cabinet resonance. Provide recordings and a run-cycle log. Emphasize the noise location above the compressor cavity to focus the inspection. Ask for exchange if the noise persists after corrective steps. [Elektroda, Kaśśśka, post #17465114]

How do I document the noise so service takes action?

Do this:
  1. Record 60–90 seconds near the rear shroud and front, noting time.
  2. Log start/stop times for 24 hours to show patterns.
  3. Send model, serial, ambient room temperature, and photos of the installation. Attach a clear audio sample with your claim. [Elektroda, miet55, post #18891381]

The hotline says “these fridges must be like that.” How can I challenge it?

Counter with evidence. Share a recording and a log. If possible, compare against the same model that runs quietly and include that in your claim. Ask for a second technician or escalate via the service owner and retailer. Written escalation helps. [Elektroda, miet55, post #18891381]

I missed the 14‑day return window—what are my options?

Proceed with a warranty claim and request repair or replacement. Provide objective evidence: recordings, cycle logs, and noise location. If denied, escalate with your retailer and local consumer rights, referencing the missed return window and unresolved fault. [Elektroda, Kaśśśka, post #17465824]

My built‑in inverter fridge stayed loud after a “generator/compressor” swap. What else should be checked?

Verify cabinet ventilation clearances and airflow. Decouple panels with foam or pads. Check fan blade clearance, mounts, and line contact in the rear channel. Confirm the unit is not hard-coupled to cabinetry causing resonance. Provide recordings to guide the technician. [Elektroda, lukasz.strzelczyk, post #18378761]

Are newer Samsung series actually quiet compared to older coolers?

Yes. Owners reported the Samsung RS68N8220B1 series and the RZ80FHIS freezer as very quiet. That underscores that loud operation is not an inherent brand trait. Use such references during escalation to justify repair or exchange. [Elektroda, Sebastian_M26, post #18735703]

Who should I contact first—retailer or Samsung service?

Within a retailer’s return window, start with the store. After that, contact Samsung warranty service. Provide purchase details, transport conditions, and installation info, since rough transport or poor installation can trigger noise and delays. [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #17445959]

Service delays are dragging on—what escalation works?

Escalate in writing to the service owner and your retailer, attaching logs and recordings. Note any excessive delays, such as multiple months without resolution. Request a senior technician or product exchange due to persistent fault. [Elektroda, maciek-55, post #18756122]

What’s an edge case to watch for after repair?

A compressor swap that leaves the fridge louder indicates the root cause may be the fan, mounts, or tubing interference. Insist on a full acoustic and mechanical inspection beyond the sealed system components. Replace or re‑mount implicated parts. [Elektroda, Kaśśśka, post #17465114]
