Alcor 32GB Flash Drive: Write Protection, Undetected, USB Mass Storage Device, F700 Firmware

Best answers LABEL_AI_GENERATED

How can I repair an Alcor 32GB USB flash drive that is write-protected and no longer detected correctly?

The drive likely needs the exact Alcor configuration for the Micron MLC 32G MT29F256G08CBCBB (L06B, 3D, 1) flash, and one suggested low-level format setup was Half capacity Check(Default), ECC 15, and Full Scan 4 [#17498971][#17505606] The poster should also retry with the newer/earlier Alcor tool versions mentioned in the thread while selecting that same memory type, because the issue was described as a firmware/configuration mismatch [#17498971] However, the original poster reported that these settings still ended in errors, with odd capacity values after reinserting the drive and persistent write-protection, so the thread does not show a confirmed successful fix [#17505887]

Hello, my flash drive does not work - it has write protection, and now it does not detect it at all:
This is what programs reading info see:

Most alcor programs don't see it at all - only the version saw it

    AlcorDSMP_18.06.13.01
    ALCOR_U2_MP_v18.09.07.00

However, any actions in this program end with an error - here are the standard settings:
Alcor 32GB Flash Drive: Write Protection, Undetected, USB Mass Storage Device, F700 Firmware
on AlcorDSMP_18.06.13.01 it does not throw an error but it does not give anything
Alcor 32GB Flash Drive: Write Protection, Undetected, USB Mass Storage Device, F700 Firmware

Anyone have any idea to treat this stubborn flash drive?

Alcor 32GB Flash Drive: Write Protection, Undetected, USB Mass Storage Device, F700 Firmware

    Added after 29 [minutes]:

With other settings, for example, it showed this error:
Alcor 32GB Flash Drive: Write Protection, Undetected, USB Mass Storage Device, F700 Firmware

In general, as I noticed, probably every error somewhere is related to an error on the firmware .... because there are stages where it works, something does, goes on and crashes the firmware error

    Added after 10 [minutes]:

Aaaaaaa, you gave me a slightly different version to download, I'm already looking :) because after these my settings it became 127 GB on this pendraive - some circuses see :/

Well, there is indeed a problem with the appropriate configuration of these tools for this memory (?) -> " Micron MLC 32G MT29F256G08CBCBB L06B 3D 1 ". :|

This flash drive is in a metal case, non-detachable?

Test again (?) by selecting this memory in settings, these tools (first the one from the attachment, possibly later the earlier version from the link):

the same ... in every setting, which I would not set to low level format, it ends with the same error as on the screen, on HLV a different error pops up on earlier screens and ends with a strange capacity of the pendrive after removing and reinserting it into the usb port - then the disk is active (it goes online in disk management but you can't do anything with it because write protection errors also pop up.

Topic summary

LABEL_AI_GENERATED
The discussion concerns a 32GB USB flash drive based on an Alcor Micro controller that initially showed write protection and later became intermittently undetected. ChipGenius identified the device as a USB Mass Storage Device with VID 058F, PID 1234, Alcor Micro controller F700, firmware E2F8, and Micron MT29F256G08CBCBB flash memory. Several low-level format and firmware configuration attempts were made using different tool settings and memory profiles, but each ended with errors, incorrect capacity reporting, or write-protection failures. The issue was repeatedly linked to improper firmware/configuration for the specific NAND flash, with the drive sometimes appearing in disk management but remaining unusable.
