    Hello,

As in the topic, the BIOS stopped detecting the SSD on which the operating system is installed.

The hardware is a few months old:
    SSD - ADATA SU800 128GB SATA3 (ASU800SS-128GT-C)
    Motherboard - ASRock H310M-HDV /H310/DDR4/SATA3/USB3.1/PCIe3.0/s.1151/mATX
    HDDrive - Toshiba P300 - (HDWD110UZSVA)
    Processors - Core i3-8100, Quad Core, 3.60GHz, 6MB, LGA1151, 14nm
    RAM - Patriot Viper Elite DDR4, 2x4GB, 2400MHz, CL15
    Power Supply - SilentiumPC Vero L2 Bronze 500 W
    BIOS 1.2
    Windows 10 Pro

It started yesterday with a Blue Screen with UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION error, which popped up with several Google Chrome tabs enabled + Steam login window (the day before installed some updates in Windows Update). The computer automatically fixed this error (as you can see, something not so much), rebooted and started up. It seemed to run a little slower, so I decided to try to diagnose this error from the Blue Screen. I ran the command line (as administrator), typed the command "sfc /scannow" and walked away from the computer. When I came back a screen was displayed with the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device". I restarted the computer, went into the BIOS and saw that it only sees the HDD. The steps I have taken so far:
    1. I checked the drive connection to make sure nothing was unplugged.

    2. I vacuumed the inputs, outputs, drive and generally the whole computer with a compressor.

    3. I swapped the SATA ports. I connected the HDD to the SATA port to which the SSD was connected and vice versa (the HDD was visible in both ports, the BIOS flash drive also worked).

    4. I updated the BIOS. Here I'll add that a few months ago I tried to update the BIOS twice with ASRock Live Update & App Shop, with no results. After the update, it kept displaying that I have BIOS 1.2 and BIOS 3.2 is available? (I'm not sure of the new BIOS version). I managed to update the BIOS from 1.0 to 1.2 through this app.

    5. I reset the BIOS by removing the battery for several minutes. I did this 3 times: first for 15-20 minutes with the SSD plugged in, then for 30-40 minutes without the SSD, and finally for 30-40 minutes with the SSD (I was counting on some kind of luck).

    6. I left the computer unplugged overnight (because I didn't want to play with it anymore after a night).

    7. I changed probably all possible settings in the BIOS regarding the drives.

None of the above actions helped. I'm still going to replace the SATA cable, if it doesn't work then I want to try to connect the SSD to the laptop, but first I need to buy both cables, SATA and adapter (today or tomorrow). As a last resort, the hardware is under warranty, so I'll send it for repair, only it will probably take a few weeks, and I just need it quite urgently, so I want to exhaust other options first. Do you have any other ideas on what to do with this fanfiction?

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS. I'm not sure what the problem is, so I also don't know if I chose the right section for this topic.

    EDIT:
PS2. The computer runs very slow on the screen where you can select F2/F6/F11/DEL etc.... After going to Boot Menu/UEFI Setup it works normally.

    Hello
You can also check the drive on another computer. If it won't be detected, it's a warranty.

What about the BIOS, it's strange that a colleague updated to version 1.2, since Asrock on its website admits that 1.2 was the "first release". As far as the update is concerned, in my opinion, the safest method should be Instant Flash from within the BIOS itself: https://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=BIOS8 - updates from under Windows are asking for a problem (especially from under Windows 10, which is hard to call a stable or reliable system at this stage - and I wouldn't want something to interrupt my motherboard firmware update process).

    Unless it's the H310M-HDV/M.2 board.

I'm going to check the drive on the laptop, but first I need to buy an adapter for it, which I'll do today or tomorrow.

In the beginning I had BIOS version 1.0 (according to the AsRock app, I didn't check anywhere else) and after a couple of attempts I managed to update it (or AsRock changed something in the app) through the AsRock app to 1.2. To the next versions I didn't try, only at version 3.0 or 3.2 I tried twice, without success.

Yesterday I updated the BIOS via instant flash using a flash drive.

Indeed, after disconnecting the SSD it went faster. Nevertheless, I'm going to try replacing the cable, and if it doesn't help then I'll try connecting to another computer. And I don't want to believe that after a few months the SSD died, there I had only Windows + some basic programs (antivirus, etc.), and the rest I keep on HDD. Well, nothing, it remains to hope that they will quickly fix the warranty issue for me. Thanks for the reply.

Dispose of the drive, nothing will be done.

Cables already ordered, so too late. But they will come in handy, after this incident I'll have an extra SSD just in case, so that in such cases I won't be left with my hand in the night. And the adapter well it will always come in handy :D I'm not closing the topic yet, I'll see what will happen after connecting to the laptop.

I finally picked up the cables + a new SSD right away. Unfortunately changing the SATA cable didn't help, the laptop doesn't see this drive either. I send it back for warranty.

Thanks for your help. Topic to be closed.

    Added after 45 [seconds]:

    Drive died.

Topic summary

The BIOS on an ASRock H310M-HDV motherboard fails to recognize an ADATA SU800 128GB SATA3 SSD, which previously hosted the operating system. The issue arose after a Blue Screen error (UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION) occurred, leading to a system slowdown. Users suggest checking the SSD on another computer and updating the BIOS via Instant Flash, as the current version (1.2) is the first release. Despite attempts to troubleshoot, including changing cables, the SSD remains undetected, indicating potential failure. The user plans to return the SSD under warranty after confirming it is not recognized on a laptop.
