Hello, I have a problem with the Vaillant gas stove. I don't know how to identify it, but I think VC / VCW 878/1. I am totally green on the subject, the apartment is not mine.
There was a drop in pressure, I refilled the water and it came back to 1.7 and theoretically it should be ok. Since then it does not work as it should.

The Auraton 2020 thermostat works, the display shows that it should heat (not heat) in both auto and manual modes. You can hear the stove as if it was about to fire up and heat up, but it consistently doesn't. I replaced the batteries. It warms the hot water.

Any ideas before I call a service technician and spend my money? The review was in July.

Thank you and please no hate.

Maybe you just have air on the radiators.

Analyze, look at everything, the pump, some valves, sensors, connections, control electronics, etc. I have a more traditional installation and it's hard to judge how yours is done if you don't see it. The stove heats your water in the boiler, it must be something with the main CO circuit. Wait, maybe professional plumbers have their say.

Beautiful glaze, it looks like a bathroom and a gas stove only for heating hot water. Are you sure you have CO heating from this stove?

This is probably the VCW 180 boiler. You have to remove the casing and the front panel, and there is an unlocking button behind the pump. It is possible that when the pressure dropped, the water boiled and the protection was activated.

Ok, I called a service technician. The diaphragm was to be replaced.

    Thanks for the help

Topic summary

The user is experiencing issues with a Vaillant gas stove, suspected to be a VC/VCW 878/1 model, which is not heating the radiators despite heating water. After refilling the system pressure to 1.7, the stove fails to operate correctly, although the Auraton 2020 thermostat indicates it should be heating. Suggestions from the forum include checking for air in the radiators, inspecting the pump, valves, sensors, and control electronics, and considering that the stove may only be designed for hot water heating. Ultimately, the user decided to call a service technician, who identified the need to replace the diaphragm.
