    Hello everyone,

I am trying to buy a car with an automatic transmission. I am looking for a compact with a gasoline engine, year 2010-2013 with a budget of, say, plus or minus 30,000 zlotys. I focused on the classic machine, but there is not much choice, but there is a lot of cars related to Vag (VW, Skoda, Seat) on the market, and you know DSG boxes there. I know the advantages of these boxes, but it was once said that these boxes can withstand a maximum mileage of 200,000 and the repair costs are astronomical amounts. Due to the increasing supply of cars with such boxes, has anything changed when it comes to the costs of repairing such boxes nowadays? Is it worth pushing cars with dual-clutch automatic gears with a mileage of over 100,000 km? What are the possible costs of repairing such boxes?

Thank you in advance for your response

Don't even think it's gonna break for you. If you think so, don't buy vaginas because it's a slippery topic.
Oil change is PLN 1000 every 60kkm, I know because I have DSG in A3, but for 2 blades I do not know if it is worth overpaying.

What do you need a slot machine for?

For 13 years I have been driving various automatic cars and I have no intention of returning to the regular cross-country skiing. There is only one thing - so far all these cars had classic automatic machines (of course, there were no problems with the gearboxes in any car, despite the fact that in some of them I changed the oil in the gearbox, in some of them not). At work, I use an ordinary gear and I simply do not want to go back to this solution in a private car. The service costs themselves do not scare me, although from what you write they are quite high (you have to pay for the convenience), but if the repair costs 8 or 10k, I give up ...

The cost of repairing each box is similar.

I myself have 2 automatic machines in the audi 250KM and S80 280KM and I do not complain, nothing is happening, I have only changed the oil once.
I also have an A3 250KM in the manual and it drives the same.

Now I am looking for a golf 5 250KM, I will see if there will be a change.

How many people, so many opinions - it's hard to give some specificities about DSG.
Drivers crash - regeneration cost around 1.5-2k. There are clutches in the price of a 2k wheel. The rest is kind of tough.

But ... there were several types of DSG gearboxes - they had wet and dry clutches, and in 2014 new models entered. They are all commonly referred to as DSGs and thus the picture becomes darker. It's the same as the machine in the modneo mk4 - there were 2 and you can't even get some parts into one and it crashes, and the other is fine. If you ask if the mondeo machines were ok, everyone will say something different. Therefore, it is best to make a list of what boxes were in which model (eg DQ200, DQ250, DL501, DQ380) and what was raining in them and then do some research on the market.

A lot also depends on the way of driving - DSG does not like driving up a few meters in a traffic jam up the hill with the gas pressed and the trailer attached. Contrary to classic automatics, where there was a converter and he took everything on himself, there is practically only a clutch and it gets hard. Along with mechatronics.

At the end: every service that deals with vending machines at the start will say the amount of 8k, because the customer will have to pay that much anyway. The cost of repairing the manual is also not cheap - some boxes cost PLN 400, but e.g. regeneration (in those with typical faults) costs over 3k. And I must admit that as long as I only replaced manual transmissions in my cars. The only automatic machine (knock on) runs all the time.

For example, the repair kit for my box costs 3900 + VAT today, so an additional 4 kPLN for removing the repair and assembling the box is not much at all.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the reliability and repair costs of DSG gearboxes in 2010-2013 VAG cars, particularly for users considering purchasing vehicles with automatic transmissions. Participants share experiences indicating that while DSG gearboxes can be reliable, they may require significant maintenance, including oil changes costing around PLN 1000 every 60,000 km. Repair costs for DSG gearboxes are estimated between PLN 8,000 to PLN 10,000, with some users noting that the cost of parts, such as clutches and repair kits, can vary significantly. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding the specific type of DSG gearbox (e.g., DQ200, DQ250) as different models have different reliability and repair characteristics. Users express mixed feelings about purchasing vehicles with DSG gearboxes, especially those with mileage over 100,000 km, due to potential repair costs and the complexity of the systems.
