Hello. I have a 150m2 house with underfloor heating throughout the house (spaced every 7 cm). I am at the stage of choosing a heat source. I was thinking about converting the air conditioner to a pc. I would like to heat my house mainly on the second tariff. Could someone advise me if I need a buffer? Can I heat hot water from such a pump? Which air conditioner should I look for?

Now they sell monoblock heat pumps at prices of about PLN 8,000, the monoblock is so much better that it has gas and all the control, you only connect the pipes to the floor heating manifold and, of course, it works on glycol or something non-freezing, these modifications will not work for you and this is for the simple reason that no one will share knowledge with you for free, they would best connect you for 30,000. I guess I'll also get a monoblock for myself.

At the moment, 99% AC has a pc, you don't have to change anything, unless you want to convert the exchanger from air to water. When using the brine as air, the gain will be modest.

And also in the 2nd tariff, which means that electricity is cheaper than air, much cooler.

If you have gas on the plot, let go of the home-made heat pump. If you are planning photovoltaic panels, let go of the gas. If you go in the direction of the self-made, you have to count on the purchase or rental of specialist tools, e.g. a vacuum pump, propane-oxygen welder. Check allegro and olx search for branded devices with the best described documentation. The easiest way is to insert two pumps, one for domestic hot water, the other for central heating.

Unfortunately, I do not have gas, as for the equipment, it so happened that I have it. To combine with the buffer and night tariff?

I meant tools to remake the air conditioner. As for the air conditioner, I will just look around.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around converting an air conditioner to a heat pump for a 150m2 house with underfloor heating. The user seeks advice on whether a buffer tank is necessary and if hot water can be heated using the pump. Responses suggest that modern air conditioners often have heat pump capabilities, and converting the exchanger from air to water may be required for optimal performance. The use of a buffer tank is debated, with concerns about heat loss unless placed in a heated area. Recommendations include considering the installation of two separate pumps for domestic hot water and central heating. The user also inquires about tools for the conversion process and expresses a lack of access to gas for heating.
