    Good morning
The case is as follows, Laptop with built-in LTE modem (Lenovo X1 Carbon 2ndGen) when I connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi network, everything works without any problems, whenever I try to connect via LTE, the problem pops up as below. Such a message applies to every browser and every address, and the SIM card from every operator. After switching to Wi-Fi, the problem does not exist. When I use this card in an external modem, also no problem. The problem only affects the built-in modem. When connected to the built-in modem, the ping goes as needed to resolve the DNS name.

A secure connection could not be established

An error occurred while connecting to the server "www.orange.pl" PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page being opened cannot be displayed because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please inform the site owners about this issue.

    Hello,,
This applies to each address you want to connect to or only SSL, i.e. connections to websites where https: // is at the beginning?

And where does this laptop come from? LTE modem supports lte bands used by Polish operators?

The laptop comes from GB, it can actually be a problem but then PING would not come back either.

In my opinion, this is something else.

if it assigns an IP address and ping works, it is probably not a LTE issue.
Do you have a chance to connect to something via telnet, ftp or http?
    This is an unencrypted connection.

You don't use any proxy servers?

This particular message (above) applies only to https: // pages if I want to connect to an unencrypted page, the message is below

The connection to the server was reset while loading the page.

The site may be temporarily unavailable or overloaded. Please try again in a while.
If you cannot open any page, please check your network connection.
If this computer is protected by a firewall or proxy server, check that Firefox is authorized to connect to the Internet.

    I don't use a proxy

The FTP connection also cannot be completed.
I do not know if this is always the case, but the card normally receives an IP address, gateway and DNS from the operator

but if I go into connection properties it looks like this.

Changing to automatic does not give anything, after changing it looks for the settings and after turning the card off and on, the settings return to the ones on ss

    The network settings look correct.
This looks like a problem with TCP since ping works and websites or FTP don't.
If this only occurs with a GSM modem, and the cable is fine, I would be aiming for the modem and its drivers.
    Have you tried updating them?

I think I'll go to alle or ali and buy a new modem, the latest firmware in the modem.

    Uninstall the drivers and reinstall.
For me, for example, sometimes the touchpad stops working on the Lenovo laptop. The first time this happened to me was after taking my laptop apart, so I thought maybe I didn't fasten the tape well. I undressed it, tried to fix it and still the same. I reinstalled the drivers and the touchpad started working.

One more thing you can do with no investment is to run Linux in the Live version. the current ones already support a lot of different devices and will probably have drivers for your LTE card. If it will start under Linux, it is a waste of money for another card because it may also not work and it will rather be a software problem.

The more so because if, for example, two Dell laptops are the same, but one has an LTE card and the other does not, the installation of the card in the other does not make the device see it. There are some other bios, I think. So there is also a chance that if you buy a different card, in the sense of a different manufacturer or a different model, it may not notice it either.

It's probably not a DNS problem after all.

From what DNS writes, i.e. UDP works, ping i.e. ICMP works. The problem is with TCP.

    Good morning
The problem probably lies in the hardware itself, I uninstalled the drivers, removed the drivers from the device manager, reinstalled the drivers and unfortunately the same, I decided to see what Wireshark will show but I only received this message when I tried

I will buy a card for a few pennies on ali. I will contact you after changing the card.

And you will come back here with the same problem as not with a bigger one.

What do you advise? Manually, DNS can not be corrected because I want to either enter IP addresses or set to auto, with such settings the connection does not set up and after resetting the card it returns to these settings.

In the case of laptops and LTE cards for them, the matter is not so simple, usually only dedicated, there are problems or the lack of drivers. Ali LTE cards often work on bands other than European (US versions). I also do not see any sense in using the LTE 3 cat modem nowadays, the minimum is 6 LTE cat. Ie aggregation of 2 LTE bands. Portable MiFi in this category costs about PLN 100, the laptop connects to it via WiFi, in case of problems with coverage it may be far from it and lie in a place where the signal is better, there are also those with external antenna connectors.

Hear now. I left the LTE modem topic alone, it's impossible to do it, why more problems than you have, but today I wanted to dig into the registry and the key Computer \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ NetworkList \ Profiles I had about 200 entries with the Orange PL network profile. Basically almost identical entries, something inspired me and I deleted all entries and you know what the mod works.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR encountered when using the built-in LTE modem on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd Gen laptop. The user reports successful Wi-Fi connectivity but fails to establish secure connections via LTE, receiving error messages across all browsers. Various responses suggest checking LTE band compatibility with Polish operators, verifying APN settings, and ensuring no proxy servers are in use. The user confirms that the issue is specific to HTTPS connections and that the modem assigns an IP address correctly. Suggestions include updating modem drivers, testing with unencrypted connections, and manually setting DNS servers. Ultimately, the user resolves the issue by deleting multiple redundant network profile entries in the Windows registry, which restored functionality to the LTE modem.
