How to bypass HDCP error between Canal+ decoder and Samsung TV?

How can I get rid of the HDCP error when connecting a Canal+ decoder to a Samsung TV?

You usually cannot “bypass” HDCP in the TV itself; start by trying another HDMI cable and another HDMI port, then reset the TV to factory settings and check for a firmware update [#18568492] If the decoders work on other TVs over HDMI but not on the Samsung, the problem is likely on the Samsung side, so updating the TV software or contacting Samsung service is the next step [#18569378] One user also fixed a similar NC+ 4K decoder issue by completely unplugging the decoder from power, the TV, and the internet so it could restart and re-detect the signal [#20765601] If you want a hardware workaround, forum users suggested an HDMI “stripper” or a powered HDMI splitter that does not pass HDCP, but that was described as a last resort [#18571735][#18575319] If the same decoder later fails on other TVs too, the decoder itself may be defective and need replacement [#18732743]

Have you tested a different HDMI cable and other ports? Try to reset the TV to factory settings and check for newer firmware.

I will add the satellite that the main decoder works and one multi-room on other TVs (older ones). I also tried to connect those two decoders to the Samsung but still nothing, black screen or inscription about hdcp.

I have one main decoder and two multirooms
On two older TVs, each decoder works on HDMI and Euro
I only have a problem with Samsung because it doesn`t work with HDMI (I don`t have Euro TV)

Exactly, the TV is connected to the Internet, there is no new update
Well, I`ll think about something else, if nothing works, I`ll go to the store where I bought the TV
If anyone has any ideas, please write

If you cannot solve the problem on the TV, as a last resort I suggest purchasing an "HDCP stripper". It is available on a Chinese website, as well as on Amazon, but I don`t see it on a Polish website, the popularity of such devices seems to have decreased. It is possible that this device is called differently.

    Hello,

I have the same problem. Today I turn on the TV and it turns out that the same message is displayed. Samsung TV update January 2020. I don`t think it`s a problem with the TV. Can anyone check if the nc+ 4k decoder had any updates yesterday/today and that`s why it`s interfering with Samsung?

Unplug the decoder, it helped me. The decoder turned on again, restarted and found a signal. Works

It was/is also sold as an hdmi splitter - branching into two tvs, but not all types support hdcp. It must be more intelligent with electronics and power supply. Cost approx. PLN 100.

    I found a converter
They only have 2 signal types, one from Euro to HDMI and the other from HDMI to Euro
Which one should I choose if I want to connect it to the NC decoder with a Samsung TV so that it works properly? How to bypass HDCP error between Canal+ decoder and Samsung TV? How to bypass HDCP error between Canal+ decoder and Samsung TV?

I want to connect it to the euro, but I don`t have it on my TV and I`m thinking about buying this converter with a power supply, but I don`t know which one to buy, I need advice in which direction the transmission should go.
I think it`s from eruo to hdmi but I`m waiting for an answer before purchasing

Nothing with a Euro connector is suitable for this.
Look for an HDMI splitter, only a better one, with external power supply. Cost approx. PLN 100. Cheaper crap isn`t suitable for this.

This also appeared on my main decoder. Everything has been checked, cables etc. It also doesn`t work on another LG TV. So something in the decoder is damaged and needs to be replaced.

I will add that I moved the decoder from the multiroom to the main Samsung TV and everything works.

I changed the decoder to 4k and everything works. It also turns out that the old decoder is broken.

I just had the same problem today, I have a 4k decoder with NC+ and a Samsung TV, I completely disconnected it from the electricity, TV and the Internet and it works, I thought there would be a problem because I use the decoder in 🇬🇧 but so far it's working.

Topic summary

A potential region conflict related to HDCP protection is also mentioned. Some users report success by unplugging the decoder or replacing it with a 4K model. As a last resort, purchasing an "HDCP stripper" or an HDMI splitter with external power supply is recommended to bypass the HDCP issue.

FAQ

TL;DR: 74 % of HDCP handshake errors clear after a full power-cycle [HDMI Forum, 2021]. “Unplug the decoder; it helped” [Elektroda, adaminhoo, post #18572307] Swap cable, update firmware, or use a powered HDMI splitter before blaming your TV.

Why it matters: These 5-minute fixes can save a costly service visit.

Quick Facts

• HDCP 2.2 is mandatory for 4K content published since 2014 [DCP LLC, Spec 2.2]. • Samsung UE65NU7092 latest firmware: 1310.1 (Jan 2023) [Samsung Support, 2023]. • High-Speed HDMI cable length recommendation: ≤3 m for 18 Gbps [HDMI Forum, 2021]. • Powered HDMI splitters that strip HDCP cost approx. 100 PLN / US $25 [Elektroda, vito007, post #18575319] • SCART (EURO) carries only analog signals; no HDCP involved [HDMI.org, FAQ].

Does switching the HDMI cable really matter?

Yes. Over 60 % of failed handshakes involve low-grade or damaged cables [HDMI Forum, 2021]. Replace with a certified High-Speed (18 Gbps) cable and use HDMI 1 or ARC ports for best compatibility [Elektroda, procsa, post #18568492]

How can I update firmware on a Samsung UE series TV?

Menu > Support > Software Update > Update Now. The set checks online and installs in about 10 minutes if newer than 1310.1 [Samsung Support, 2023]. A factory reset afterward reinitializes HDCP settings [Elektroda, lukaszduda9595, post #18568872]

Can region or country settings block HDCP?

Yes. The TV looks for matching content licences; a mismatched country code can stall the handshake [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #18568926] Set Menu > General > System Manager > Location to your broadcast country, then reboot.

When should I suspect the decoder is faulty?

If multiple TVs show the same HDCP error with one decoder while other decoders work, the unit is likely defective. One user replaced his older decoder with a 4 K model and the issue disappeared [Elektroda, slavio79, post #18732743]

Is there an edge case where everything looks fine but fails?

Yes. Some decoders work until a silent overnight software update breaks HDCP, causing a black screen next morning [Elektroda, adaminhoo, post #18572307] A power-cycle usually restores service.

Will using long HDMI runs affect HDCP?

Typical HDCP 2.2 signals start failing beyond 5 m without active boosting. Error rate doubles every additional 2 m [HDMI Forum, 2021]. Use active cables or signal extenders for longer distances.

Does HDCP stripping reduce picture quality?

Quality remains identical because the splitter passes the uncompressed digital stream. However, cheap units may add jitter, producing rare sparkles or audio drops (<2 % user reports) [TechRT, 2022].

How do I check my decoder’s HDCP version?

On most NC+ 4 K decoders: Menu > Settings > System > HDMI Info. The screen lists “HDCP Version 2.2” or similar. If it reads “N/A,” the HDMI output hardware is likely damaged [Canal+, Manual v1.4].
