Android radio for astra h - Where to connect key1 key 2? Do can h can L does not work

Best answers

How do I connect the steering wheel control wires on an Astra H Android radio, instead of wiring KEY1/KEY2 to CAN H/CAN L?

Do not connect KEY1/KEY2 to CAN H/CAN L; on this radio they expect a resistive steering-wheel control input, not CAN [#18654470][#21641800] On the CD30/CD30mp3 in Astra H, the steering-wheel control is on the original radio connector as a 2-wire resistive signal, so connect the SWC wire to KEY1 and the control ground to the head unit ground [#21641800] If your Android unit is meant to read steering-wheel commands via CAN, you need the correct Opel CANBUS adapter/harness instead of direct CAN H/L wiring [#18657833] Without that adapter, you must use the button signal wires directly or a resistor-based interface, because KEY1/KEY2 work by resistance between them [#18654470][#18654754]

Nothing like without a CAN converter. Key 1 and key 2 work on the principle of resistance between them.

These cables cannot be connected there.
My magic glass ball broke, so I can`t conjure anything from it. So you will need to provide more details though.

What is your factory radio model, what Chinese car did you buy? Photos, including plug wire harnesses, are welcome.

I wrote the solution above, so there`s no point in going further. You just need to know how radio controls worked 10-15 years ago - resistance. In this radio, a given resistance is assigned to a given function in the settings.

Hello. The original radio is cd30mp3 and the Chinese radio is android 8.1 has no name. I have three problems if anyone could help, namely: 1. The radio does not turn off, I connected the ILL cable to the positive of the cigarette lighter and installed a switch in the ashtray, so I turn off the radio, otherwise it stays in sleep mode, the date and time are displayed. Or should I connect the ILL cable to the ANT like the REM cable from the amplifier? 2. The reversing camera works until I start the engine, then there are interferences and after a while there is a black screen. I connected to the cable from the bulb to the reverse light. Should I connect directly to the socket or where? 3. This most important steering wheel control. Do I need to buy some module or what? Together with this radio you should have a CAN BUS adapter with wiring harness. Something like this topic . Of course, you may also have such a problem with the radio because this BID display is linked to the original radio, but never mind.
The ACC and ILL wires can be connected together and in your case they must be. In the rear or front fuse box, find the power line that appears only when the key is turned to position 1. Run the wire through the 5A fuse to these two ACC and ILL. Well, now that I look at it, you can also connect speakers and, in fact, power the antenna. Connect the camera to the connector marked No. 4. Under the brown signal from the reverse lamp, directly or through a relay and power supply, e.g. from the cigarette lighter. Anyway, this is not a radio dedicated to this car model, I would sell it and buy something else dedicated and adapted with the frame and everything else. I leave the decision to you.

Thank you very much, on Saturday I will start connecting it as you wrote. Unfortunately, this can bus was not included in the set, but I will look for it on the Internet. You also wrote that I should connect the ill acc and ant speakers together, but they are connected directly to the speaker cables from the car, only the central one is connected to the left front one. I have ordered the frame for the radio separately, I will install it and everything will work, but it will probably take some time :)

    Hello.
I don`t know if it will be helpful because it concerns another Android radio in Fiat Bravo2, but I had problems with assigning functions to the steering wheel control buttons. The problem was solved after cutting 2 wires from the harness under the steering wheel transmitting the signal from the buttons and connecting them to KEY1 and KEY2 from the radio. I`m not writing which wires these are because yours probably have different colors/markings... but maybe it`s worth checking this lead :) After this connection, steering wheel control works 100%.

the description of your original radio is:
Android radio for astra h - Where to connect key1 key 2? Do can h can L does not work

    unfortunately it`s CAN

    - Opel Astra (H) 2004 - 2010
    - Opel Corsa (C/D) 2004 - 2009
    - Opel Meriva A (X01) 2005 - 2010
    - Opel Signum 2005 - 2008
    - Opel Tigra 2004 - 2009
    - Opel Vectra C (Z02) 2004 - 2008
    - Opel Vivaro 2011 - 2013
    - Opel Zafira (B) 2005 - 2014
    - Opel Antara 2006 - 2010
    - Opel Combo (X12) 2012 - ...
    - Opel Corsa D 2009 - 2014

Either an adapter or combinations, if I`m not mistaken, the remote controls are still analog, but later the signal is changed to digital. You would have to pull the cables from the buttons, make a board with resistors and then connect it to the new radio. The matter will not be simple because the remote controls are in the steering wheel and not on the column.

I`ll refresh the topic a bit and ask if anyone knows how to control key1 and key2 in the new Chinese Android device on a separate board with resistors? I`ve been looking for a diagram and the values of these resistors, but I can`t find it.

1.2K, 1.5K resistors should be good.

If my memory serves me right, it doesn`t matter whether key1 or key2 does not have to be both.

It won`t be easy to plug into the remote control buttons on the steering wheel and pull the cables.

Maybe look for CANBUS BOX adapters for Opel radios on Aliexpress.

Good point, you could probably create a makeshift set of contactors with resistors from the contactors yourself to make sure whether the game is worth it, anyway, purchasing a Canbus adapter for a specific brand seems to be more reasonable.

I also found such a schedule for the Chinese.

It`s also true that the Chinese often don`t know 100% whether his equipment will work, but he always pretends that it definitely works. Either way, the decision is yours.

I just want to make the controls on the central tunnel at hand so as not to reach the radio, and connecting these inventions to the steering wheel ended with the lights on and an SRS error. Other solutions are too expensive for this car.

    Hello

I would like to reheat the topic of Key1 and Key 2
    Opel Meriva 2004 versus Chinese
There are 5 wires coming out of the radio and 2 wires coming out of the chine's cube plus two loose wires marked Key 1 and Key 2.
The wires of the chine's cube cover the android radio to the astra h - Where do I connect key1 key 2? To can h can L not work 50% with the original cube
Anyone perhaps already worked through this?

I think the steering wheel control in the Meriva is the same as in the Astra G, i.e. resistive, there was already a description of the connection somewhere on the forum, you just have to search for it.

Afaik the cd30 radio uses resistive buttons on the big connecter under the usual power and speaker connectors, its 2 wires, one is SWC (Steering Wheel Controls) and immediately next to it is the ground for the controls.
connect these to your new head unit, SWC to key1 , gnd to headunit ground.
Can l-h on these radios(cd30/cd30mp3) I believe is just for the lcd display.
I'm just fitting one myself and was wondering how the SWC worked and I know this thread is as old as I am.....

FAQ

TL;DR: For Opel Astra H/Meriva Android swaps, KEY1/KEY2 are resistive. Use 1.2K–1.5K loads; "1.2K, 1.5K resistors should be good." Avoid CAN-H/L; use a CANBUS box or tap steering-button wires for SWC. [Elektroda, Rafael22, post #19376385]

Why it matters: This helps Astra H/Meriva owners fix non‑working steering controls, power‑off issues, and camera glitches during Android installs.

Quick Facts

Where do I connect KEY1 and KEY2 on an Astra H or Meriva?

Connect them to the steering-wheel button circuit, which uses resistance values. Do not expect CAN decoding on these pins without an adapter. As one expert put it, “Key 1 and key 2 work on the principle of resistance between them.” [Elektroda, polonez15, post #18654470]

Can I connect KEY1/KEY2 to CAN-H and CAN-L?

No. Those pins are not for direct CAN wiring. “These cables cannot be connected there.” Use a CANBUS adapter or wire to the resistive button pair instead. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18654583]

Do I need a CANBUS adapter to keep Opel CD30 MP3 steering controls?

Yes, recommended. The CD30 MP3 system is CAN-based; steering buttons are analog in the wheel and get digitized for the radio. Use an adapter or build a resistor board if you rewire. [Elektroda, Rafael22, post #18835347]

How do I wire ACC and ILL so the Android radio turns off with the key?

Tie ACC and ILL together. Feed them from an ignition-switched 12 V that appears at key position I. Insert a 5 A inline fuse before the radio. This prevents the unit from lingering in sleep mode. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18657833]

My reverse camera shows noise or a black screen when I start the engine. Fix?

Use the head unit’s camera input (port #4). Take the trigger from the brown reverse-lamp wire. Power the camera from a clean 12 V source (e.g., accessory feed) or through a relay to isolate lamp noise. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18657833]

Can KEY1 alone work without KEY2?

Often yes. Many Android units read a single KEY line for SWC learning. “It doesn’t matter whether key1 or key2 does not have to be both.” Configure functions in the radio’s SWC settings. [Elektroda, Rafael22, post #19376385]

What resistor values should I try for SWC learning on Chinese Android units?

Start with 1.2 kΩ and 1.5 kΩ between KEY and ground during learning. Map each resistance to a function in the radio’s SWC menu. “1.2K, 1.5K resistors should be good.” [Elektroda, Rafael22, post #19376385]

How do I bench-test SWC inputs before tapping the car harness?

  1. Prepare two buttons with 1.2 kΩ and 1.5 kΩ to ground.
  2. Enter the radio’s SWC learning mode and connect KEY1 to each resistor.
  3. Assign functions as each resistance is detected; repeat for KEY2 if needed. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #19376687]

Where do I pick up the steering-button wires, and does cutting them work?

Under the steering wheel harness. One owner cut two button-signal wires and connected them to KEY1/KEY2, then learned functions. Steering controls “worked 100%” after this change. Label and verify wires before cutting. [Elektroda, klimapitt, post #18765268]

Will the factory BID display still work after replacing the radio?

Not guaranteed. The BID display is linked to the original radio. Aftermarket Android units may not drive it without the correct CAN interface. Plan for limited OEM display functions. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18657833]

Are generic CANBUS boxes reliable for Opel/Mercedes installs?

Results vary. Some boxes are costly and inconsistent. As one expert warns, “the Chinese often don’t know 100% whether his equipment will work.” Buy adapter models matched to your car and radio. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #19376937]

Any risks when tapping the steering-wheel harness for SWC?

Yes. Incorrect wiring can trigger dash lights or SRS/airbag faults. One attempt at steering-wheel integration ended with warning lights and an SRS error. Disconnect the battery and verify circuits before work. [Elektroda, cier, post #19376970]

Is the Meriva 2004 steering control like Astra G (resistive)?

Forum guidance indicates Meriva 2004 uses a resistive steering control scheme similar to Astra G. That aligns with Android KEY1/KEY2 inputs for analog button ladders. [Elektroda, milejow, post #21191982]

Should I choose a dedicated Opel-specific Android unit instead of a universal one?

Yes, when possible. Dedicated units include the frame, CANBUS integration, and wiring tailored to Opel. This minimizes fitment issues and preserves more functions. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18657833]
